YKTR Sea Eagles 2022 Preview

40 nil

It's only a game ...
Interesting discussion with Justin Horo & Isaac John starts @ 20:00

Horo: Manly to finish 1 or 2; motivation for Manly this year will be last year's big losses to Storm & Rabbitohs in finals; team needs to use Turbo as a decoy more; having a strike centre would take pressure off Turbo (Koula mentioned); hopes Jorge gets some game time as would help Manly ruck ball from own end.

John: 2022 is Manly's premiership window (DCE & Foran ageing ); Manly always get the best out of core players; Schuster & Haumole favourite second row pairing.

Good job feathered friend . Thanks for posting
Interesting insight from both Horo and John .

Interesting about Jorge. I think he will get decent time in the trial. He’s had the best part of a year off so could be fresh. Smoky for centre, did well there in reserve grade in the Blacktown highlights.
Love Jorge, if he's improved on his speed and mobility and has still retained all of his trade mark toughness in attack, and those flying Kamakazi hits coming out of the line. I think Des will certainly have in the frame for another tilt in 1st grade at some point, a bench prospect at least.

Totally diagree
I am a Taufua fan....much respect and he was very good at Blacktown 2021.
I feel he is awesome backup and brings power, as in those "out of danger zone runs", but he has a sloppy, slow play ball and ordinary hands and very vulnerable to to the ball in the air and Saab and Garrick now OWN their wing spots, unless a big form drop I can't see happening.
Anyone thinking he is a centre, has zero passing game and though would 100% put on some great shots, would be caught out defensively in a Massive way.
The suggestion of a centre change up has legs and though young and inexperienced, that explosive X factor player would be Koula...but in saying that, I am not as anti Parker/Harper as most and apart from 2 poor games - they both had a great 2021 season and just may be better for it....if not, there are other options, but I doubt Taufua is 1 of them.

Jorge is a 30 year old, coming back from a ruptured achilles. There is no way he is fast or mobile enough to be a first-choice winger now - also, we know his handling issues. Backup only.
I saw the Blacktown games last year, he is definitely no centre.
I thought 5 years ago Jorge should switch to the forwards, but not suggested now.

Jorge is great for depth and far from first choice now. I admire his courage. The fact is the modern winger has to be capable to diffuse opposition kicks and score from attacking ones and that is something that Jorge for many years has struggled to do. Our newer wingers are a constant threat when the ball is in the air now and they have amazing speed. We are fortunate to have that.

all good discussion points above RE who plays centre with potential to offer real strike power, I also look forward to Burbo having a decent run in the trials, named to play in the centres against Tigers, could he grow into an ex fact player?

but has he learnt to catch yet?

One reason Horo talked up Jorge in the video is because they played in the 2013 GF together and are mates. I thought another of his comments was more significant, i.e. Turbo should study the videos of the losses to the Storm & Rabbitohs where he was heavily targeted and work out ways to counter this in future clashes.

He actually seemed to improve considerably with taking bombs at least during his last two full seasons or so . More of a speed issue with Jorge , no doubt could still be quite reliable but that extra pace on the wings that Manly have now , has made a real difference for the better .

There is no SAABstitute for Speed except for Koula

Speed is the essence of War
