Just thought I would jump in to let you know about the scam that has come back into fashion lately.
It seems like they are going through the Wide Bay number codes at the moment 😉
Anyways what happens is they have an auto dialer which just automatically dials and then changes the number
for instance it would call
(these numbers are hopefully fakes)
07 4124 1000
then if that was not a number it hangs up and moves to the next
07 4124 1001
and so on. Once you pick up it plays a recorded message telling you have won a holiday from a form that you or someone in your family filled in (this should be your clue to it being BS)
I generally hang up by this point, but it apparantly asks you to press 9 and you are then either asked for credit card details or hit with a sales pitch
Obviously don't give out this information, you haven't won jack. Don't ask them to take you off the list etc, just hang up. There is no holiday and the sooner you hang up the more likely you will be filtered from their system, pressing 9 will just make the system aware that your number may actually be listed as able interested and you will get further calls.
I had the same call on my mobile about 4 months ago and got it on my home phone today.
