Would Turbo be a good Centre?

Just asking, because Kevin Locke, if he comes would be a handy fullback, so, Tommy could slot into the centre's with Walker.......? I'm not sure, but could this be a master stroke? I'm pretty sure Turbo would become one of the best centre's in the game, but I'm thinking he might be too tall, and I wonder about his step? What about his defence?

I wouldn't even consider moving Tom to the centres just for someone like Kevin Locke who, if we are targeting him would be a big step backwards.

The only one I would move him there for is a fit and fully committed to the Manly cause Snake, and I can't even see Snake playing for Manly next year anyway. Otherwise, Tom isn't a centre.

Can you say.....Josh Dugan? Get my drift?

Kevin Locke? Give me strength.....:swear::swear::swear::swear::swear::swear::swear:

I'm fine with Locke for our ressies but I hope we don't see him in first grade unless we have big injuries. It's horrifying enough that we may have Uate starting for us.
Tom goes at fullback for me, it's the position he'll get his hands on the ball the most. I do think he would make a fabulous centre, but he'll have greater impact from fullback .

He'd be good anywhere but he'd be best at fullback, we'll keep him there and for a long time to come..

However in saying that I'm very pleased with the backs we've got now with one or two looking likely to come (I'd say it'd be Whare) and that makes for a very good backline. Getting excited for 2017, hopefully we have a good year injury wise

Don't get me wrong, I agree that Tom would likely make a very good centre and could easily be similar that way in the same way that Rowdy Shearer was for us back in the 80's. But for mine we'd get much more value out of him at fullback than we would in the centres or on the wing.

If they want Tom in the centres or on the wing leave that to rep selectors and coaches. But for Manly he should be first and foremost a fullback and that is it. Otherwise you are weakening one position just to shore up another.

I'm not a fan of Kevin Locke, but IF we did for some reason get him, like @NewwyEagle I hope its only as a back up and that he mostly plays NSW Cup.

Tom is clearly a good centre based on his appearances at left centre last year. But he is more value at 1

There is no doubt the club see Tom as a 1. Centres don't get paid 900k, that is reserved for spine players. No doubt he could handle the position and will more than likely play there or wing in the future for NSW with Moylan and tedesco ahead at this point for the 1 jersey. Locke isn't the answer. There is a reason he is only on a train and trial contract with us, because no one else would give him a guaranteed contract. Hopefully he turns out ok but it there is a lot to fall into place before that happens.

Tom can make any position look good but if you really want to see him reach his potential and be able to use his whole skill set fullback is where he goes. Plus you don't pay almost 1 mil for a centre.

Mate the only reason is his behaviour .. He can play he was up their with the best of them at his peak

Tom would be one of our best centres ever, he will also be one of our best 3 fullbacks ever.

If we could clone him and put him in both that would be great.

There IS another due to come through in 3 years (about) isn't there?

Thats far from the only reason. He has a documented history of struggling with depression which in turn was no doubt a factor in his issues relating to the application to physical training, nutrition and conditioning required in regards being a professional footballer. He struggled with his weight while in the UK and was even called up publicly over it from the owner of the team. No doubt if he can overcome the behaviour issues and hopefully for him can manage the depression issues and then the fitness concerns he could be effective in a role for us.

I've read that the youngest Trbojevic brother is more interested in cricket than league (though even Tom admits he was tempted to take up the Swans offer of joining their AFL academy before he decided league was his go so his younger brother liking cricket more could change. He's only a kid and kids tend to change their minds frequently).

Tom Trbojevic can play just about any position in the backline and no matter what the position he would be a standout, he's that sort of player. But his best position is fullback and while there are others who specialise in playing wing, centre or even 5/8 at the club, fullback is where he should be playing.

Kevin Locke might be a good backup considering that our other FB options (assuming Snake won't be playing) are Wiliame, Wright, Godinet and (God forbid) Dylan Walker. But he should be a backup and nothing more IMO. Maybe if we don't get DWZ he could play wing because he does have speed and he has good hands, but otherwise no.

Would much rather have Locke in the side as opposed to Willaime/Wright!

Tom is big, mobile, agile, fast, sKillful, has a big motor and doesn't shurk the hard stuff.

He is potentially the best edge back rower Manly has ever had.

Agree completely..lets assume Kevin gets his act together and he's fit mentally and physically . Hard to be too depressed hanging out in Narrabeen all week ffs lol Now this is a GREAT signing imo. This dood is a serious footballer. He potentially could be anything. When he came onto the scene he killed it and rep honours came accordingly. He is not a depth player. With uncertainty over Snake and the fact that he will be cheap as chips we have very little downside here. If he's firing we have much needed genuine speed in our backline or terrific depth to cover Tommy when on rep duty. I like this kid. Let's give him a go.

I love the flick pass at speed in the highlights. He is a very exciting player when on song.

Now that he is married to an aussie netballer he needs to be in Australia, and by all accounts he is back on track. Good luck to him.

Well said and the mail is solid so I dare say he will be in the starting side on the wing.
