Don't forget that I'm immigrant scum too so I can get away with the use of that term on a self-depreciating basis.

that would be deprecating, depreciating would have you worth less value over time.........

And Wog is not a term I hear used in reference to africans very often, of whatever hue.

You can tell it's budget time, can't you?

I was often called wog as I was from "over there".

Actually, in Africa it is commonly used but with a different emphasis. If you think of Noddy's mate Gollywog you will probably understand.

Noddy was a great show, axed because of political correctness, along with a heap of other great shows

My librarian auntie banned me from having anything to do with Enid Blyton.

The poor old dear can be held responsible for my predilection towards reading Brett Easton Ellis and CS Lewis.

first Time I've ever heard of anyone being banned from her stuff I must admit,

was that in Aus or Zim?

Zim.

She was your classic librarian. Smelt like a motheaten book and loved them with a passion. She used to claim that Blytton didn't do enough to stimulate the imagination - referring to her as the porn vendor of children's literature!

Lucas Neil is a pommie, as soon as he opens his mouth its blindingly obvious.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Lucas Neill (born March 9, 1978 in Sydney, Australia) is an Australian football player who currently plays for Blackburn Rovers F.C. most often at right-back. He was a member of the national squad at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.

Neill joined Blackburn from Millwall F.C. in September 2001, having initially played at the Australian Institute of Sport. Neill played 170 games for Millwall in total and played his first game for Blackburn on September 8 against Sunderland A.F.C., and scored his first Blackburn goal on September 19 against Bolton Wanderers F.C.

He is combative and skillful. However, his aggressiveness has seen him booked and sent off regularly each season.

Pete I wasnt referring to where he was born.

Most of the rest of the team is also Australian, but as they dont have anglo sounding names they have already been labelled "wogs",

By that reckoning he and Kewell are poms, if the rest are "wogs"

I think you will find Kewell was born in England and the his parents migrated to Oz. He was very young at the time!!!

As much as I love Rugby League , I am also a keen soccer fan. I'm hopeful that Australia can qualify with a victory this Wednesday night. I'll be out at Telstra Stadium cheering them on. I have my doubts that Australia can score more than 1 goal yet alone keep Uruguay from scoring. In 3 meetings against Uruguay , we have only scored 1 goal & that was a penalty goal by Kevin Muscat at the MCG. Uruguays Recoba is the class player & he'll cause us plenty of problems.

I would love to see Australia qualify for the World Cup , but my patience is wearing thin. I was at Aussie Stadium in 1993 when we played Maradona's Argentina , I've also travelled down to Melbourne in 1997 & 2001 for the matches , so hopefully now , Telstra Stadium can bring about a change of luck for the Socceroos.

Cheer them on in your lounge rooms on Weds night from 8pm on SBS.

Despite League also being my first love, I am also a fan of Soccer at the highest level, and I still play the game, being long past it in footy.

Would love the Aussies to stick it to the South Americans and FIFA, hating the way that the game officialdom has sucked up to them.

Soccer is a world game - not just a local pastime and it is the last sport that Australia is yet to make it's mark on the world stage. Better than watching the Wobbely scrum smashed all over the park by a pack of Fat poms!!!!!

Oh, and Australian rugby is reaping what it has sowed. The country has no genuine rugby pedigree and Australia needs to learn how to develop genuine front row and a five eighth that can kick.

I can not wait for the game - i have seen all the games in Syd since we drew with Israel in 89. Bring it on! Lets hope we qualify for the only true world cup (although i do not think we have alot of chance)
