Centers are interesting, Campbell Graham the only genuine centre named there, although Holmes played a fair bit of centre this year.
Holmes & Manu were the two centres in the Dally M Team of the Year. However, I expect him to play wing ahead of Taulagi. I expect Meninga will select the team he thinks can win. Form in the lesser games will be important.

Well done to DCE and Jake for making the squad. Jake is a big chance of making the first 17 with only 5 genuine props named in the squad. RCG couldn't keep him out of Origin team so don't see why he gets picked ahead of him in Kangaroo side. I reckon Jake and Collins are the starting props in that group. Bench from 2 of Tino/Cotter/Carrigan.

My guess - Holmes was tremendous as a centre and he and Mitchell will get first go there surely. Addo-Car and Tuilagi are the only specialist wingers so they'd be in the box seat.
I think Burton and Wighton could be battling each other for a bench spot?
And Graham is cover for injury.

Interesting that DCE is not in the (official) leadership group - indicating maybe that he won't be in the top thirteen. The team is a bit thin in outside backs, although maybe Burton will be used in the centres. Possible top seventeen?

1. Tedesco
2. JAC
3. Burton/Wighton
4. Mitchell
5. Holmes
6. Munster
7. Cleary
8. Carrigan
9. Grant
10. RCG
11. Crichton
12. Murray
13. Yeo
14. Hunt
15. Nanai/Martin
16. Tino
17. Collins/Cotter
Looks on the money, I reckon.

Jake will definitely be in the 17. After the difference he made between SOO 1 and 2, it would be a crazy decision to leave him out, especially looking at the lack of middle forwards

Addo-Carr looks like being the Kangaroos winger but can't get a start in the Blues. Fu*k Fittler is clueless.

Everyone in squad except Graham has played Origin in last two years. It's the form guide isn't it.

On paper the Tongan squad is impressive, slightly shading the Samoans. Both teams have realistic chances of beating the heavyweights, NZ, GB and Australia in at least one match.
This is shaping as the closest World Cup ever, and it is just a matter of time before one of the Pacifica nations wins it, provided NRL players continue to opt to represent their heritage rather than playing for Australia or New Zealand.

Is this the most intimidating pack in world RL?
JWH
Nelson
Brandon Smith
Leota
two Bromwich Brothers
Papalii
Niuckora.....
Wow. This NZ squad is the best on paper I can see. Australia is not going to beat them through the forwards!

I hoping sone of our players playing in the Polynesian sides grow as footballers during this World Cup.

What the?!

It seems weird for the world cup to say "ok...the player has to wear the same number all through the tournament." there's the 'what the' from me.

So I guess Australia giving the captain the #1 and then whomever has played for aust the longest gets #2 (dce) and so on is a good as system as any for what I think is an absurd demand.

so much weirdness, so little time

From the squads it looks like a battle of NZ's forward pack against Australia's backline. I reckon Jurbo will be needed to make a lot of tackles against the likes of JWH, Fisher-Harris, Nelson etc if we are to win the World Cup.
Not knowing any of the GB players I'm tipping Tonga will be in the top three and Samoa not far behind.
