Wingers

SOO last night confirmed the value of good wingers... Tom, Addo-Carr, Holmes and Gagai were great.

Manly not getting nearly enough from its wingers in comparison. I like Jorge, but doubt he would start on the wing in many other NRL teams these days. Nor would Uate. Wright not even close.

Holmes is the modern winger: fast and elusive, yet willing to run like a prop at top speed into the line. The days of bollocking wingers who mostly do early-tackle hit-ups (ie Jorge) are fading.

We desperately need wingers in 2018 and an injection of pace out wide (and bomb catching).

Time for Jorge to move to bench/forwards. Uate gone.

Jorge is actually a really good winger who is underrated because he sometimes struggles with the high ball. He makes meters, has a big body, is a monster in defence and is amongst the best close to the line finishers in the league.

I agree that I would like to see a reliable quickish guy on the other side though.

Wingers are only as good as the players inside them. When you have a creative half and five-eighth more chances are provided to the centres and the wingers.
While I think both of our wingers are good, both pale in comparison to the two Storm wingers and Semi. Doesn'tmatta should now realise what an impact Semi had on their winning percentages.

Happy to Keep Jorge on the wing with Jade Anderson on the other in 2019.

Jorge's contract is up at the end of 2019 season so unless he makes a move into the forwards in 2020 i doubt we will offer him another contact as a winger.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not. When we put bombs up we hardly contest them this was especially evident last week. So after Tom's performance 1 try and a couple of other tap backs. I know he was playing on the wing but my question is why we don't use Tom's height and jumping ability more often?

Maybe Jade Anderson will prove a good option....Tom Wright also an option - both fast, evasive and young and already Manly players.
If the coaching staff have already decided to let players go for next season .they should blood the younger players asap!!!

I often wonder why our recruitment staff are not looking at the Fijian 7’s team. Players in this team are so fit and we all know how athletic and strong they are but one thing that has impressed me the most is their commitment in defence. They should be visiting Fiji as there are so many Vunivalu’s playing Rugby Union there and we should see if we are able to identify one of this talents.

T Wright and Funa are the only 2 younger players that are eligible to be blooded and they definitely should get a lot of time immediately a top 8 finish is mathematically impossible.

I think we made a mistake with Hodko taking up our last roster spot, especially considering our finals ambitions are all but blown away. Would have preferred Dylan stay at 5/8 and Ando given that last spot instead of Hodko.

3/4 of them are not wingers and SOO has no salary cap

I would say 2/4.

Tom is a fullback.
Gagai is a centre.

The only true wingers were Addo-Carr and Holmes. Valentine may think he's a fullback, but his best position is the wing.
