Can't be good for you doing somersaults at full pace, like Garrick today scoring his try? It looked good in slo-mo up until his back hit the ground, I was pleased he sprang to his feet and seemed OK.
I noticed someone else do it earlier this year (Coates?) and he looked quite badly shaken afterwards.
Surely it's not a move they practice? Or maybe they do, for keeping the body in the air when going over the cornerpost maybe?

I think - and its giving him the benefit of the doubt, with the defender coming in side on, he was rolling to have the momentum take him towards his left, diagonally away. He didn't go straight over, he went over his left shoulder which was pretty safe.

The problem is always going to be if there is a collision midway but Garrick got away clean...

400 years ago when I was only 200 or so...

I used to do them and I felt it was just an easy way to get me back on my feet after having to bend down to plant the ball (old age already creeping into my thinking, lol)...

But Garrick didn't tuck a leg in (or something) and so the roll was fine but just went "blatt" or "thump" on his straight leg and came to a screeching halt.

Seeing as I am convinced he won't practise kicking from his 'bogey' spot, I'm certain he won't practice forward rolls.

Mmmm sausage rolls.
