Willis Meehan Expected to be given ‘Green Light’ for 2017

The NRL integrity unit is expected to sign off and register Willis Meehan as a NRL player in 2017.

Meehan, 21, made his NRL debut for the Roosters in 2014 and seemed to have a promising future in the NRL, but was dumped by the club last July over a charge of assaulting a taxi driver for which he was later convicted.

A former Australian schoolboys representative, he had previously been placed on a good behavior bond for headbutting a man and stealing his watch near The Star Casino last April.

The Manly signed the sacked Sydney Roosters youngster Willis Meehan last July and he played the remainder of reserve grade for the Sea Eagles.

It is believed he has impressed the Manly coaching staff this pre-season and also member of the NRL integrity unit with his rehabilitation courses he has conducted and charity work within the community.

Meehan, still has a long way to go, but Trent Barrett believes he is definately doing the right things on and off the training track and believes he may get a crack in the 2017 side.

never heard of the 5th tackle nor Anthony grant so I don't know how much substance this story has...or how he would know what the nrl integrity unit would be thinking.

Still....slow news week, sorta good news so I'll take it.

Does anyone know how he is settling in at the club now? Obviously with his old man taking up a position at the club they are looking to make him feel right at home. Plenty of chooks fans think they'll share him straight back after his stint with us.

Yeah I heard as much from a few mates who are chook fans. Makes you wonder if he worth trouble if he going straight back there

The same thing was said about Michael Chee Kam and Dean Whare - neither have come back to us, so I wouldn't put too much stock into it.

If he excels at Manly I think he will hang around.

yes true I hope that happens. He different get first grade from all reports he be in 17

Definately think he'll be in our starting 17 next season now, likely at the expense of Lawrence which is a little bit of a shame but he will be going in and out of the side throughout the year

Off topic I know, but have we definitely signed George Francis?? He's the nephew of Hoppa Snr and was held in pretty high regard at the dogs. Big lad at 115 kgs and has been known to bench press 150kgs. Plus, he's only 18. Another good buy and adds to the front row stocks.

Here's a story on him from a couple of years ago...

It's been debated on here a lot, not too sure but if he's good enough we'll be sure to find out. If not he's some more wasted talent

A lot of things get mass debated on these forums. See what I did there @Shoe1 ? Hahaha!

Thank you @Harry Smith and I agree with your summation. Dave Taylor was 115kgs at 16 years old and so was Tony Williams most probably. If only you could put the brain and heart of a Toovey type into those huge bodies.
