Who replaces Kelly ??

The more I see of Kelly's form slump ... the more of a fan I am becoming.

For a young rookie having 3/4 horror games, he has not dropped his bundle or stopped going looking for work ... this kid has the goods, he is a footballer.

Should he be dropped or rested . .. probably .. but different characters require different methods, will have to trust Baz to know what is best for Kelly and the team.

Something has gone off within the playing group. They don't look like they are playing for each other. Opposition sides are constantly targeting our left hand edge and clearly see Kelly as a weak link in defence. I would do the same. Our pack has been dominated and I am concerned by the number of players that miss tackles rushing up in defence. This is a test for TB as its not easy to get a side back up after bleeding 80 points in a fortnight. You cannot win a game with 45% possession missing 52 tackles!!!!! Our pack took the day off with only Marty breaking 100 metres. Marty 126 metres, Lawrence 49 metres, Winterstein 28 metres, Brown 55 metres, Jake, 81 metres, Lane 28 metres, Lussick 59 metres and Fonua-Blake 65 metres. This is just not good enough! No go forward and no defence. Young Kelly ran 93 metres, Turbo ran 126 metres and the bumbling Wright ran 57 metres. However I note that the backs run many meters returning kicks. This can be turned around but it will require something special from TB to get into their heads and better selections on the bench are required. We need impact players on the bench and not band aides.

If you use running metres to judge performance you also need to factor in the time they had on the field. For example, Penny played around 21 minutes and the Storm had the ball for the majority of that time. It's not a fair comparison to take one stat in isolation. I think Twenty erred by not starting Penny in the second row instead of Poo. Penny has got some much more to offer than him.

Kelly . Wright . Parker and possibly Schuster- [ wing option ] for two outside back positions. This seems to be the present reality . Kelly again continues to show good commitment , still tries hard and did a reasonable job containing Chambers but still in many ways seems a very average centre at first grade level . Again I guess the concern still is , can he improve even marginally on his present form and he still missed 7 tackles yesterday . Barrett will most likely persevere with him but of course the whole team squad urgently need to lift also at this juncture and rediscover and find their Mojo again

I don't think we're winning the Premiership this season but we are poised to give it a nudge in the next few years. Kelly could be a big part of this, you have to stick with him given his potential and the lack of replacements. The experience will do him good.

This was never going to be our year. We had too much rebuilding to do and we're missing a huge chunk of the salary cap. But if we get some good signings together next year is a strong possibility.

The Walker change was our only option, Lyon didnt want to play 6 and i respect baz for understanding that Jamie should play where he wants due to what he has done for the club.

In the end Common sense prevailed and Lyon was moved to 5/8
Good coaches with good communication skills have the ability to inspire and motivate players to do what is right for the team .

Mate I love Jamie Lyon hes my fav player of all time, i didnt word it as well as i should have but its a known fact lyon wasnt interested in the 6 until we were absolutely desperate to have him there. Baz thought walker could make a good 6 but didnt turn out so well. So killer played the final games of the season in the 6.

Kelly shot duck no confidence. Maybe out of box move wright to centre and kelly to wing.

Wright should be dropped he was slow, weak, pathetic. Gave a penalty away in the first half when we had just made a break and had possession while he was at dummy half. It was 8-6 at the time, Storm scored off the back of the penalty just before HT.
Then at the start of the second got stripped of the ball and Storm scored again.
2 bonehead plays. Game over.
Parker should be straight in for Wright, leave young Kelly there.

Yep, Wright was brilliant for two games and could even kick goals back then. If he gets one more chance he better not blow it. Taufua used to always more than make up for his errors.

the same thing has happened to me...I was one of the fans calling for him to be given a spell but I have changed my mind for the same reasons you have...also as others have pointed out, Matai was much maligned in his first couple of seasons as well.
