Who replaces Kelly ??

Seriously we need a reality check. We will not win this competition. This thread bags a centre...seriously how bad was Wright. Stupid penalty, stupid strip....game over. When you play the competition leaders you cannot make mistakes. Discounting the again biased refereeing... again very poor. Boy I would like to sit with the referee's and critique their performance. This would be hands down the worst game I game I have seen from Turbo.

We are way behind the top four right now. We didn't deserve it.
I completely agree about Wright. Giving away the penalty while on attack was face palming stuff, but then to let his opposition strip him of possession in a dangerous position and with the game still in reach just made my heart sink. Add in the missed conversion from a position he should be converting from easily, and I gave him my dud of the match award.

I have to disagree regarding the referees today. Sure, there may have been the odd contentious call (they were going both ways), but they were generally fair in my opinion and I never really found myself pulling my hair out about their performance today.

If I recall DCE had the ball stripped off him as well on a one on one.. Wright did have an absolute shocker though.. agree was very frustrating to watch.

Refereeing was fine today. I wanted to get mad at some decisions but thought to myself if that was Manly I'd be okay with it. Got a couple of offside penalties which are my pet hate but some around the ruck weren't warranted. Anyway manly lost. To the best team in the comp.

Losing.. To the best team in the Comp, isn't the issue. Not competing or applying the fundamentals of footy is the issue.

I will never question a team nor individual if the effort is there. But effort and application were sorely lacking today.

I think the effort part is debatable, but definitely agree about missing fundamentals. We just lost composure and shape. Self-destructed.

Thanks HK_Eagle, All good. I am lucky to be able to watch every NRL game every week. My comment on the refs was not only this game but all. In this particular game - how many late tackle counts did Melb get a penalty? How many times was Melb offside 10 metres out and of every set play? Hmmmm. This is how it is! Oh please explain the lifting tackle?

Does not excuse the way we played, the mistakes we made. I just think there needs to be a level of accountant ability from the refs...but they are protected species .

Overall this game was that reality check, at the moment (last 2 games -82 to 28) isn't good enough.

I sat on the 10m line and Manly were consistently offside defending their line and got away with it all second half. The same may well have been happening at the other end and for both teams. At the game, it just didn't seem that Storm were being favoured in anyway whatsoever by the refs. That said, yes, there have been some pretty tough dubious officiating in recent games against us. However, I do think that we also tend to taint such bias with our own bias, which is highly commendable and expected as a team supporter. 🙂 All good.

I don't think we can blame any individuals solely for the loss, it was the team as a whole that just lacked the passion and the drive, they just didn't care enough which is really gutting to see. Got to see this turn around very soon

I thought you lived in Hong Kong? Did you fly in for this game?

The energy has been down but I don't really see that as lack of effort or care. Very few (if any) teams get through a long season without suffering a form slump at some point.

Disappointing of course when we had high hopes but there's no reason we can't claw our way back into form over the next few weeks.

Hi Harry, totally agree, the whole team was outclassed in this game. Can't put my finger on it but everyone is playing down in confidence, intent, or motivated. Seems no one is running straight other than API from dummy half which set up a try. They all look like they prefer to be anywhere other on a football team. They need to get back to basics. Granted most didn't think we would win yesterday but I think we can all agree the amount of points we have let leak through in the last 2 weeks, being we were the benchmark for defence, is not of NRL standard

Young Brian Kelly, looks like he needs a spell as his confidence is shot at the moment. He was up against Chambers yesterday and he really struggled to cope with Chambers power and speed. I thought both our edges looked very vulnerable yesterday. It is obvious that Dylan Walker has been carrying an injury for a while. I think giving Brad Parker a run is not the worst idea. As a team, we need to muscle up and do something about the 92 points we have leaked in the last 2 games!

A few weeks ago I said we were way too skinny in the backs and that's where we should be recruiting...the general sentiment was that our backs were fine. Over the last few weeks we've seen what happens if our forwards don't get on top. The backs get over-run.

I'm sorry but Matt Wright is a stop gap at best, he's just not good enough full stop. Kelly needs a rest his confidence is shot and his defence is non existent. With Walker playing busted there are holes galore in this backline. And not a lot of options to come in.

Something has gone off within the playing group. They don't look like they are playing for each other. Opposition sides are constantly targeting our left hand edge and clearly see Kelly as a weak link in defence. I would do the same. Our pack has been dominated and I am concerned by the number of players that miss tackles rushing up in defence. This is a test for TB as its not easy to get a side back up after bleeding 80 points in a fortnight. You cannot win a game with 45% possession missing 52 tackles!!!!! Our pack took the day off with only Marty breaking 100 metres. Marty 126 metres, Lawrence 49 metres, Winterstein 28 metres, Brown 55 metres, Jake, 81 metres, Lane 28 metres, Lussick 59 metres and Fonua-Blake 65 metres. This is just not good enough! No go forward and no defence. Young Kelly ran 93 metres, Turbo ran 126 metres and the bumbling Wright ran 57 metres. However I note that the backs run many meters returning kicks. This can be turned around but it will require something special from TB to get into their heads and better selections on the bench are required. We need impact players on the bench and not band aides.

Chambers is a handful for anyone let alone young Kelly.

I think he is doing better than most and has been the better of our two centers over the last month. Walker is a passenger playing injured.
Given the overall situation I'd certainly be persevering with Kelly.
I do wonder what Walkers probs are..........
