Well looks like our top 30 is close to being set , no superstars signed but a few promising youngsters.

So who is going to surprise

Not sure if you mean 2025?

My thoughts on 2025 it’s a big season for Garrick and Koula in the three quarters, both on good dollars and are going to be put under some heat with emerging players in the junior ranks, I fancy Large will debut at centre, Willett has height and speed, Lawry should he stay on and play NSW cup is a talent. They will put enough heat on Garrick and Koula to step it up.

The forwards I am not sure though some word is the Zane train (Zane Dunford) could have a good year ahead with a full off season behind him after the ACL he did in 2023.

Seibold has shown with Hoppa that if a young bloke puts in the hard yards and impresses during the preseason.

Opportunity will happen.

Travelling to Vegas wasn't an accident, and Tui to the dragons might have been another flow on of how good his preseason was.

This Preseason all our young forwards should be pushing each other higher and higher.

Impress enough opportunity awaits.

Hopefully a hooker and also Patolo or someone can grab that left edge and give some impact....Navale a smokey to have a legit dig at 13, after coming off the bench 4 - 5 games in

Whilst I was talking about the youngsters there’s some others who either need or could “ step up “.

Simpkin / Gordie 3 names , both or one

Paseka , shows glimpses of greatness but lacks consistency.

Burbo , it’s what , year 3 in 2025 , he needs to be better to hold that spot.

We need pressure on the existing forward pack from below because as it stands some just sort of “ turn up” as they know they’ll get chosen.

Jake, Paseka, Sipley and Aloiai all need to step up or we won't even make the top 8. Looking at other teams who will contend, and most have improved their roster. We have not improved our roster even a little bit, so unless individuals can improve, we will go backwards.
It’s certainly our Achilles Heel

Which surprises me why we haven’t tried to at least partially fix it.

Burbo absolutely has to step up. Has nearly 50 games to his belt now and is probably the best of a bad bunch of left edge second rowers over Waddell and Chee Kam. Given he lost his starting spot this year to our backup hooker Lawton and is now likely to get that spot back, he should be under pressure from round 1 to make that spot his own. Make or break year for him, and the excuse for the lack of development/reserve games played during the COVID years does not apply anymore

I'm hopeful Koula will go to another level next year. Fairly quiet this year but I think he was playing injured for a lot of it and was shuffled around a bit. Still only 22 and coming into his 4th year in first grade, I think he'll carry a lot more confidence into next season after the try against the Dogs and playing for Tonga. He's got the potential to easily be our best centre and I think a switch back to the right side would make both him a better player and us a better team

Patolo to partner Olakau’atu in the 2nd row. Give Brbo a chance at number 13!!! Could surprise?
Jake to front row rotation.
Simpkin at 9

Trbo
Saab
Garrick / Talau
Koula
Talau / Garrick
Brooks
DCE

Paseka
Simpkin
Jrbo
Olakau’atu
Patolo
Brbo

Res: Hoppa, Aloiai, Taukei’aho, Brown

Stby: Sipley, Waddell, Chee Kam, Jazz, Croker, GKT…….

I agree. So many teams should be better. Stand still and you do backwards.

That’s one of the significant advantages in giving Seibold a contract extension.

Getting away from the conservative selections into giving players a chance that still are developing their game.
