Where's Jamil?

Manly have been strangely silent regarding young Jamil Hopoate. Not since the end of the last season has his name been mentioned except on these forums. At that stage he could not play first grade because the NRL were not satisfied he had completed requirements, including parole, that would allow him to be re-registered for top grade. Since then we've heard nothing, not even if he is on contract. Has anyone heard anything about this young talented bad boy of the game. Has he been training with the team? Where's Jamil?

Manly recently have been very tight lipped ,with very little in the way of rumours and player movements .
( mostly the rumours heard have been wrong)
- most recent example is Lloyd Perrett signing. Not many seen that coming.

I think I found him

We heard about him when we wanted to debut him late this season. However his return was blocked so we put in Bainbridge

Also on his Instagram he is clearly still at manly

Ive got this funny feeling he will not last long at Manly. People change their ways but making intelligent decisions consistently can be challenging...especially for young rugby league players who are a few slices short of a loaf....i think he still has another solid fk up in him. I think the club will let him go sometime in the next year or two. Really hope im wrong though. Would love to see him be our next superman Choc 2nd rower

Gee I hope you're wrong Lord Eagleton, though your point is no doubt of concern to many of us. This kid has loads of potential and I suspect he is better than his brother Will...he'll also have no problems playing on Sundays.

Jamil does have an imp in his personality but if that can be diverted and used in his game, it just may make him a tough little rover in the side. He's apparently one of those perpetual motion types, like Watmough and Buhrer, who is always in the thick of things and is capable both defensively and in attack, to make a difference. Just hope he can convert all that energy into what's happening on the field, and not into what his silly mates are up to. Let's not forget that Watmough, when he first appeared as a precocious teenager in the Manly side, had some serious rough edges that needed addressing before he became such a special ingredient in the Manly side
