Where are we heading as a club?

All about the coach too. Ask most players who they would rather run through a brick wall for...
Bennett or Seibold.
A good coach won't need to spend overs to convince players to come play for them , especially if they have a chance at winning the title.
If Seibold was coach of the Dolphins, I doubt Bromwich, Kaufusi would go to the Dolphins.
Granted , the coach could impact their decision , BUT, to prove it’s about the $$$ they went with Benji ( unproven ) Marshall v the old master , Bennett.

In the end they went with the only team in the comp that was prepared to pay the money that Tartak demanded. When Mestrov refused Tartaks upgrade request for the brothers, he (Tartak) expected that multiple clubs would be interested in them. Obviously, he expected that Manly would agree to the upgrades before he took them to market. In the end it was just the Tigers that were prepared to play Tartak's game. It wasn't about Marshall v Bennett it was always about the money. It always will be.

Where are we headed as a club? As I have said previously, we are headed nowhere fast with Penn as the owner. Unless we get a change of ownership soon we will sink further into the abyss, and never really be competitive with the big four ever again. Sad but true.

I thought Penn looked familiar in a movie I saw....

Since the Penns took sole ownership we have made the finals three out of nine years (counting this year).

We have had four different coaches in nine years .

We have had about six or more ceos.

We have had constant off field issues including pride gate.

We have let countless juniors go including gutho , ramien and others.

We have also won three games from the last ten, seven from our last 24 and our ownership think we are in a premiership window.
Well written! As long as Pernn remains the owner then we will be a basket case club.

Manly cant succeed without being the silvertails.
We had a glimpse with a once in a generation player in Turbo, but without him at his best we cant compete with bigger clubs fostering thier nursery such as panthers cowboys storm broncos.
Manly has no nursery, so we are fooked unless we have a future immortal playing for us.

The Roosters and Melbourne say hi.

Bulldogs say hi too.
Im of the opinion the Bulldogs will be the new Roosters, especially with sponsors like these guys...

Well what’s fairly interesting is that the much maligned coach ( on here anyway ) really inherited a Hasler / Fulton team and 2024 is his first opportunity at selecting his type of players.

Now the issue is , the cap , and will they want to come ??

But the fact that we threw big money at Flegler earlier in the year suggests we do have cap space for at least one more better player.

Lodge will be signed , that’s a no brainer.

Woods probably will too , as a real cheapie and injuries aside unlikely to get much of a look at FG, but not a bad option for a fill in that won’t set the world on fire but goes ok.

The back line seems pretty set and reasonably well covered , but maybe a few of the Blacktown boys might get an upgrade , Humphreys / Toby maybe.

However be great to get another to grade Prop, with Keppie being the casualty.

Seibold needs to be judged not on 2023 , but 2024-25.

A prop and a backrower in my opinion. A few should be made Expendable to make it happen

I don't know how you think Woods is good as a cheapie. Better to give a youngster a go. You only sign a guy at Wood's age if they have some sort of pedigree as a matchwinner who can bring a bit of experience having won premierships (ie Adam Blair). Woods isn't a matchwinner. Even Kevin Proctor would bring more to the table than Woods.

We've finally started to win games without Tommy ... and actually believe that we can.

So in answer to the thread question, and with a nod to Renee Geyer ... we're heading in the right direction!
Yep , good point that , and you are right there needs to be a lot of self belief that they can actually do that before they can move ahead.

honestly what can we look forward for next season, coaching staff were a disappointment, no new players of quality being signed, no one to take us forward, DCE a year older, Manly identty slippping away, Penn an absent owner, no forward strike power, injury prone turbo, DNA of a losing culture, no light at the end of the tunnel, another miss finals appearance, Seibold as coach another failed season next year. Sad times ahead for u-

We have a clown for a coach who says he’s “so proud” after every loss, What hope do we have when losing makes you proud

What a fuking joke
