When should we take the 2 points early?

I understand a good defensive team doing it but if we are playing to our strengths which is attack shouldn’t we just go for an early try? Not that it would have got us the win but an early try changes the mindset of both teams. So my point is should we ever take the 2 when we know our defence will never hold up?

At the time, straight in front, was the best decision. Hindsight shows differently but definitely wasn't the difference.
Well to start I didn’t say it was the difference but anyways… I disagree, we didn’t need hindsight to know if we were going to win this game it would be in a shoot out

The comment about the difference was just a general statement.

In the latter part of the first half we showed that we could match it with the Storm. At the time we took the penalty, noboby knew how this game was going to play out.

After the three tries to break the game open, we were definitely the dominant team to finish out the first half and were on the up. What happened after that is better left to Seibs and the team.

Taking the two suggests that we were prepared to grind out the game. I believe that we were of the mindset that points will be at a premium where it could have been the difference. I believe it was the right decision at the time but the game obviously blew out.

We still wouldn't have won if we'd taken the 22!
Let's just concede that Melbourne were far too good for us, and would have beaten any other of the NRL sides on that performance.
We would have need Turbo, TT2, Al and Tent to be competitive against that Strom side.

We need a more ruthless and more confident Winning mind mentality
I am not a fan of these early and easy Passive 2 points

When we take the two early and easy points , We also take the pressure of the opposition as well as build their confidence and show them that We are not confinement of scoring .

Confident coached teams are a bit more ruthless and go for the jugular .

Early in the game it is harder to score a try as defense is fresh and eager, especially close to the line. We would more likely than not have gone side to side for a few tackles before one of our wingers got bundled into touch. Going for 2 at that time of the game was ok with me.

So you think the Bulldogs need to be more ruthless and they lack a winning mentality?
(they took the 2 points in the 3rd minute yesterday)

The bulldogs backed their ruthlessness by blowing their opposition away
We need to build this winning ruthlessness mentality

They would still lap us, they had a patched up back line without Meaney and Warbrick, Nelson was also out.

Man was close enough if good enough at half time. Because they took the two. The two just wasn't the problem. Jake missing tackles left right and centre on the other hand.

The Two Perspective ....

The issue was we were not Two Resilient enough
Jake game has not evolved under Seibold
Seibold is not responsible that Jake has aged and has slown down But he is responsible for the way he is playing
I can assure that Jake would be Playing much better with better coached team structures
