When are we Gooornne ?

i think 8th spot is generally a pretty low benchmark. if we are to challenge i presume we will hit a purple patch and win 6 or 7 straight

i think mentally Tom is an enormous boost to the squad . if he does return and have a good run then he will be missing at origin as may DCE and Jake.

i think des has conceded the early rounds somewhat and is also waiting for tom. if tom and foran are healthy together we are a chance as long as mathematically we are a chance. if tom has an injury plagued year we have buckleys . tom is the man the team attaches its wagon too. foran can guide us and will enjoy having tom about and i expect marty will improve if it looks likely

this team is underperforming due to a lack of belief. they have much better in them but need a leader
I think Turbo going down has massively rocked this team. Just like the supporters had that "oh no" feeling when we heard the news, im sure the players felt exactly the same.

The terrible death of young Keith can't have helped either. Especially with the younger players who were close to him. Must be hard to focus on footy when they are still coming to terms with that.

The thing with the top 8 is you can make it with a50% winning margin.
If we draw every game (24 points) in a season plus the points for a bye then we finish top 8. (28 points)
Add to that the teams above us never beat us so they are on less points than if they won.

I’m with you Woodsie... I get new false hope every week, but won’t give up the dream!

I tell you what though, I’m very excited at the prospect of Schuster and Turbo playing in the same team.
Never give up hope mate it’s the nrl anything can happen. I’m choosing a narrative of us starting appallingly (0-5) and Des, Foz and dce dragging us off the canvas for a finals run. Things will turn when Tom comes back. Keep the faith.

I suspect we're gone already, we may start winning some games with turbo back, but he will last 10 games and we will be ****ed again.

Okay, if we assume we need 13 wins to make the finals, the equation becomes ..

0 - 3 we need to win 56.5% of remaining games .. 2 of those games we could have lost even if playing well .. St.G a big worry ..
0 - 4 we need to win 59% of remaining games .. (likely against the riff) ... but still very doable to make semi's
0 - 5 we need to win 62% of remaining games .. (Warriors may be the MIGOTY) .. lose this one and it starts going uphill quick .
0 - 6 we need to win 65% of remaining games .. (lose to Titans and the hill gets very steep)
0 - 7 we need to win 68.5% of remaining games .. (Tigers would be our last stand .. lose this one and it becomes a win too far)
0 - 8 we need to win 72% of remaining games ..
0 - 9 we need to win 76% of remaining games ..

The way I see it is 0 - 4 is terrible ... (but) .. only the loss to St,G. is devastating ... even in a good year we could lose 3 games to 3 of the top 4 teams .. just a bummer it was in our first 4 games this season ... but Dessie and DCE are correct ... it can be turned around .. and it ain't over yet ..

But boy, do we need to see some improvement soon .. we looked promising in flashes last week ... and then ...
sportsbet is offering 16:1 for manly wooden spoon. jump on it now. good value.

The sad part for myself right now is not even contemplating finals footy and doing the math on what we need to avoid the spoon...
The good old days I used to way up our main opposition for winning the comp....these times I get excited seeing how bad Cowboys, Dogs and Brisbane are playing, with the hope 1 of these sides can beat us to the spoon....

I doubt it very much that Tom will be playing origin unless he hits sensational form on his return, as for Jake, well he can't be picked on form unless Fittler is blindly loyal to him.
