Whatever happened to black marks under the eyes?

Firstly, wasn't it only a couple of years ago that Manly had the hoodoo labeled upon us that the team couldn't play at night...

Now, more importantly, in regards to night time football: whatever happened to players wearing the black mark under their eyes to stop the glare? I still see Gridiron players wear the black mark, but it seems like a forgotten art in NRL circles.  ???

And while I'm at it: doesn't anyone anymore wear those patches on the bridge of their nose to help their breathing? At one stage, it was all the rage, now nothing.  ::)

No need for tape round the ears anymore as there is no pushing in the scrums with everyone loosely bound.
