What to do with Ben Barba

Was reading Barba's Agent is asking $1M from the Broncos. He's currently on $350k.
The Broncos are saying, C'mon c'mon,
that's rediculous!!

Remember Lockyer was only taking $250,000 out of their salary cap.
I'm sure the creative Broncos accountants will be able to get him for around $100k.

I disagree with Barba having to take the same amount of money if he leaves. That just benefits the Broncos even more. What about this for a solution. If a player leaves a club prior to his contract finishing, for the term at that initial contract the gaining club has to have an extra 10% of the contract value recorded against the cap. eg, Barba has 2 years left on his Dogs contract, he signs a 4 year contract at the Dogs worth $700k per season. For the first 2 years, under the cap the Broncos have to record him for $770k. I think the contract value would have to be averaged otherwise it could get complicated with clubs trying to get around it with back ending deals.

You'd have to work on the small print, but at least that gives a hit to the gaining club.

Barba offically signs with broncos for next season
