The Balmain Tigers merge with the Wests Magpies has never worked well. Balmain is full of inner-city, caffe-latte sipping trendies while the Magpies is full of, well, Westies with Shambletown as its home base.
The Balmain culture is much better suited to the Northern Beaches, so why not a merger of Manly and Balmain? Two great clubs which featured in many fiery clashes prior to the introduction of the so-called salary cap.
Our mascot could be half Eagle, half Tiger we'd call Eagers.
This merger would save a lot on transfer fees for players.
Why not? The two clubs are currently swapping players at the rate contestants on TV dating shows swap spit.
