Wests Tigers statement

Wests Tigers would like to respond to an inaccurate and misleading article published in today’s The Sunday Telegraph.

While The Sunday Telegraph’s article attempts to discredit Wests Tigers the Club was actually ranked second in the NRL for its wellbeing program for the 2016 season.

Central to the article is a confidential report undertaken by the Rugby League Player’s Association that is now more than 12 months old.

The article takes aim at Wests Tigers’ treatment of players, using selected examples from unnamed players from the Club’s 2015 squad.

The Sunday Telegraph obtained a small portion of this confidential report and has decided to publish these unsubstantiated, and unconfirmed, claims. The excerpts published by The Sunday Telegraph are a small portion of a much larger report undertaken by the RLPA, with these reports done on every NRL Club at the completion of each season, with both of these facts conveniently left out of the article.

Seems as though they are bullying a few of their players though

Honestly I really hope we don’t go and offer this kid 1.3 million for 5 years.

We really won’t change any of the dynamics by doing so

I agree MFB. I'm not saying he's a dud. He's clearly a very good player.

But this is not the position that needs strengthening right now.

Mobile, athletic back rowers are what we need.

This is disappointing news for RL in general. I know it is a professional sport but creating so much speculation 18 months out from his departure sucks.
Bloody managers. Something needs to be done about their influence, plus the ludicrous contract system.
We know he's most likely to end up at Easts. The comp continues to be one of The Haves and The Have Nots.

We need to copy the AFL, it works beautifully for them.

A juniors draft ( most slot straight into the sides that year). Teams running down the bottom get first picks.

A trade period , where players are traded ( they have to be agreeable ) and picks in the junior draft are used as enticements.

Outside of this period zero happens , clubs who cross the line , heavily fined , players who cross the line, heavily fined , managers who cross the line , barred for 5 years from being a manager.

No bull**** announcements , no innuendo, no playing one club against the other.

Simple , and as I say they do it well

" Galvin has not accepted Tigers... massive offer "...mmm.. if we do go for Galvin, how much will our massive offer be ?
I thought it was interesting that in the tigers statement they said Galvins camp ‘weren’t willing to review the offer’. This would suggest to me that it’s about more than money & they have other problems with the club/coaching staff.

Realistically if he was just a ‘mercenary’ Tigers are the place for him to be. Up there for the most salary cap space in the comp. To not counter or even try use Tigers as leverage for more money from another club tells the story.
