West Indies cricket in crisis as BCCI threatens to sue for millions

HOW the mighty have fallen.

The once all-conquering West Indies cricket team is in crisis and their international future in danger.

Battle lines are being drawn between the Windies players and administrators following the team’s shock withdrawal from the tour of India.

In the wake of the unprecedented decision to abandon the campaign at the end of the fourth one-day international in Dharamsala on Friday, West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) officials are due to meet in emergency session on Tuesday to consider the ramifications of their squad’s failure to fulfil a contractual obligation with the most powerful and influential organisation in the international game

Sad to see how this once great team end up this way. Can't believe they are still arguing over money

They don't like the money Oh No, they love it.

To be fair they do seem to get underpaid a bit.

WI cricket has been a basket case for a while. It's a political animal because you are trying to bring together players from all different nations, it's not like the cricket boards of every other test nation which is just one country. Each country has its own agenda, it needs a strong respected figure to tie the whole thing together. The rise of Windies cricket started when they appointed their first black captain Frank Worrell, a well educated and popular leader. He united the region and gave the Windies their own identity. He was followed by Sobers and Lloyd, another two talented and respected figures who were able to rise above all the politics and unite the players. It's been a slow decline since those days, and it's sad to see. Seems these days the players are all trying to look after number one and not the team.

My most favorite memories of watching cricket as a kid were of the great Windies sides of the 80's. World cricket needs them back firing and competitive in order to grow the sport.
