“Rumours of a switch to Canterbury” has anyone else heard of this rumour?Theres always been rumours around DCE,99% of the time they’re false.May I suggest that the rumour was started by Weidler just for his story?
Eagles rocked
When you watch the way Manly are performing you can’t discount the effect the tragic passing of Keith Titmuss has had on the players. The 20-year-old collapsed and suffered a seizure following a pre-season training session and later died in hospital.
Many of Titmuss’ best mates were there and watched it happen.
The significant impact it had on the training staff is also still being felt. It is not the main reason for the Sea Eagles’ dreadful 0-4 start to the season, but you need to remember the effect his death has had on vulnerable young men.
Daly Cherry-Evans is the easy target at Manly because of his position and pay packet. It has even led to rumours of a switch to Canterbury to play under his old coach, Trent Barrett. That story is not coming from DCE. Cherry-Evans wants to lead Manly out of their slump, not look for a new start. He is committed to staying with Manly and seeing the club through this tough patch.
I’m sure it was terrible for the lads and remain with them for a long time.Though there is a lot of supposition in what Weidler is saying, I do recall the impact the death of Ben Alexander had on the Penrith club in late June 1992. This was a team being coached by Phil Gould that had won the premiership the year before and were sitting in 3rd position when this happened. This team included Greg Alexander, Steve Carter, John Cartwright, Brad Fittler, Mark Geyer, Brad Izzard and Ben Farrar. They lost six of their last nine games that season and slumped to 9th. The following year they came 12th.
I'm not saying Ben's death caused the failing of that premiership winning side alone, but I remember how traumatised it was suggested the side were. Like Titmuss he was a very popular young player on the rise yet to make his first grade debut. I don't think you can easily dismiss the emotional impact.
And you are into proctology@Bring back the.... Biff? is into eschatology
Agree so Let’s start a rumour spartiati for him to write dce & foz riff unsettling sides performance.Weidler has nothing better to do than read our threads then write up crap..

Problem with that theory is they were playing in exactly the same fashion way before young Keith passed.
Yep they are Bear and I’m sure Keith’s passing has been a one of the factors, just not the prime one.To me the reasons are obvious - we pick players who are not suitable for the new game and coach players like they are playing in 2019.Point taken Susan. I was only trying to suggest it also could be a factor. But you are quite valid is your estimation of their efforts before that tragedy, of which we can recall too well last year and especially the second half of last year. Seems, though, to me they are playing worse than even last year.
