Always remember the try he scored, palming off a quality defender Matt Sing
Manly were down against Roosters and got a charge down near half way, offload to Innes who raced away with Sing across in cover, he lands the right fend flush on Sing and splatters him, then raced away for the try and Manly the game ....at Brookie 🙌

I remember that as well, he was right on the touchline as it was and Sing had the angle / speed to make the perfect tackle or at least knock him off balance into touch. Innes put the paw out and stopped him dead without losing speed or balance.

Craig Innes is in our top 2 all time centres, of my lifetime, and I will never be convinced otherwise.

Innes was a top line centre but he was fortunate at Manly to have Terry Hill, who helped create space for Innes on many occasions (sometimes illegally by briefly holding an opposition player long enough to allow Innes to run through a gap). Amused me how often he got away with it. Hill in my opinion was one of Manly's finest centres and his partnership with Innes was lethal. Fulton and Jamie Lyon were the best centres I've seen in Manly colours since 1965. Gartner, O'Connor, Shearer, McDonald, Branigan, Hill and Innes are in my opinion the next level down. Koula may join them.

Yes forgot Matai. He's in that group. What I recall was McDonald was tall, solid and could motor. Bit like a fast Lowe in the centres, Branigan was silky smooth, Gartner and Shearer were just damn quick, O'Connor wasn't tough but clever, Hill was like Matai, hard running tough, great fend, Innes reminded me of Branigan, silky smooth. Lyon was very clever and seemed to position himself so well and distribute magically. Only Fulton had it all. Clever, fast, tough.

We haven't had top quality centres since Matai, Lyon, Bell. Koula is good but lacks quality creative halves inside. Garrick isn't a centre.

Not quite as good as the lot I picked in my opinion but they could be devastating, especially Cleal.
