Sometimes it seems like nice guys don’t just finish last. They get relegated, too.

Geoff Toovey’s appointment this week as the coach of the reborn Bradford Bulls is enough to reassure us that after all that happens, nice guys also get a second chance.

As a reporter, I’ve been dealing with Toovey since before his first grade debut – which was against the 1988 Great Britain Lions. He scored a try that night in a 30-0 win for the home side at Brookvale Oval. In his 145 games for Manly and the Northern Eagles, it’s doubtful he faced too many men smaller than him. Or braver.

Good read. Great bloke. Such a shame that little legend isn't the one currently saying, I'm Manly, are you Manly? Perhaps for some Arko is manly or Bozo is manly. For me Tooves is manly. He just personifys that toughness, yet the class I associate with our great club. One things for certain, we are a lessor club without an icon a club legend like him around. I can't help but think, one day he will be back.

It seems about as proper as Tooves telling the people of Bradford tomorrow that he is Bradford. ( By tomorrow Tooves would have been working for the Bulls almost as long as our new CEO has been with the Eags)

I really like the slogan mind you. The media advisors done a great job. I just can't help but think, that line "I am manly" was just written, to be uttered by Geoff.

I look at all the positives to come out of this for our legend Toovey . He got his payout and he is now given an opportunity to do something he is passionate about and he also has support of his CEO . Toovey will excel at Bradford and come back to coach once more in Australia and in high demand

Tooves is not perfect and we seem to be pushing into that category. To me he was a very good player and coach and an open person with integrity. His light burnt brighter for me during the 2015 season. Very few would have withstood the onslaught he received and still maintained his dignity.

My opinion of Bozo and Arko diminished.

My biggest issue with tooves coaching in the nrl again is when his side plays Manly, I'll probably take great delight in him beating us, provided the current admin is still running the joint.
