Why are people still talking about a bloke whose link to the M-W club was a fairly tenuous one to begin with?

Manly have to be the club that most likely offered Wakeham this 3 year contract he had on the table before he was charged. Don't we?
He was playing for Blacktown at the time said contract was offered.
The kicker, Wakeham had only days prior to his arrest been elevated to our extended NRL bench.
Add a Sydney based NRL team continues to be interested in Wakeham for 2025? Which Sydney team could that be?
He's previously had stints at the dogs & tigers so rule them out.
Now if Wakeham actually accepted said contract earlier this year.
With all charges being dropped, if he gets the all clear to return to the NRL field tomorrow. Could such contract continue to bind both parties?
If we aren't the team that offered that contract, or the Sydney team now interested in him for 25. It's going to be intriguing which club it is.
But food for thought.

Brandon Wakeham made a low-key return to rugby league on Friday night – his first game since drug supply charges were sensationally dropped – declaring: “The NRL is still the dream.”
Wakeham was arrested by police in the Brookvale Oval carpark in May after an eight-month investigation into the supply of illicit drugs.
The former Canterbury and Wests Tigers half was charged with taking part in the supply of a prohibited drug, greater than a large commercial quantity; taking part in the supply of a prohibited drug, greater than an indictable and less than a commercial quantity; and participating in a criminal group.
NSW Police released photos of Wakeham being handcuffed at the back of Manly’s home ground.
During one of the first court hearings, it was alleged Wakeham was in the passenger seat of a car during two instances of alleged drug supply. On neither occasion did he “have any knowledge” of what was going on, his high-profile lawyer Elias Tabchouri said at the time.
Wakeham’s home was also raided by police, while the playmaker was later ordered to stop training and playing with NSW Cup team Blacktown as part of the NRL’s no-fault stand-down policy.

Wakeham maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal, and all the charges were dropped in November.
“Today’s result, with the charges withdrawn and dismissed against him, is a vindication for Brandon and the fact that he never did anything wrong,” Tabchouri said at the time.
Wakeham landed a contract with Manly’s reserve grade team and has been training with the Sea Eagles’ NRL team for the past month on a train-and-trial deal.
He played about 25 minutes for the Sea Eagles against Penrith on Friday and later told this masthead it was a moment he feared may never come again.

The Leichhardt Oval cameo was his first game in 285 days, since he captained Blacktown in a NSW Cup game against Newtown.
“I’m just happy to back out there today after almost a year of not playing,” Wakeham said. “It was good to get out there for about 25 minutes – it was my first 25 minutes since everything went down.
“This morning when I woke up, I thought about the last year and what had happened.
“I thought it had all been taken away from me last year.
“I’m thankful I’ve been given this opportunity to come back to the club. I’ve tried to put my best foot forward, so we’ll see what happens from that. I’m just glad to get today over and done with, and happy to feel that contact again.”
Wests Tigers fans inside the ground to watch their team play Parramatta in the later trial were familiar with Wakeham after he played 15 NRL games for the club in 2023. He was bought as a back-up playmaker by then coach Tim Sheens, who never thought he would need to rely so heavily on the Fiji international.
The 26-year-old Wakeham knows his only chance in the NRL at Manly will come if there were mass injuries to Daly Cherry-Evans, Luke Brooks and even Jake Arthur, but he is grateful to be back doing what he loves.

Once we do Tom and Jake's next contracts we will have a much more balanced cap.

It saves them having to right the entire newspaper title, including title changes such as with Saturday and Sunday editions.
The term also gives the ability to add an 's' making mastheads which then can reflect a shared content connection to all newspapers within a newspaper group, saving listing each newspaper title, e.g. Story featured in XYZ Limited Mastheads.
Also in general terms the value of a publication has most often been attributed to its 'masthead' when discussing readership etc.
And not forgetting a value was given to the 'masthead' as this was the portion of the unsold newspapers newsagents cut off and returned to the publisher for refund.
I'm thinking many terms continue to be used in the electronic space that were more relevant with their physical equivalent.

See, back when I was involved in print publications, "masthead" had a very specific meaning. It referred to the box of text that contained the title of the publication followed by a list of the people involved in producing it, including editorial, sales, circulation, and subscription staff, as well as any relevant company/corporate information. It would appear on the contents page, or the letters page, or somewhere else close to the inside front cover.
Sometimes people, usually designers, also used the term "masthead" to refer to the stylised text of the publication's title that appeared on the cover or, in the case of a newspaper, at the top of the front page.
But nobody ever used it as a synonym for the publication itself. If that's what you mean, why not say, "this publication" or "this newspaper"? Why take something with a very specific meaning and try to give it a generic meaning?
Somewhere along the line, some dickhead used it because he or she thought it sounded fancy. And other lazy dickheads copied it for the same reason. And now it's "this masthead" this and "this masthead" that. And yes, it annoys the **** out of me, but so does much of the world as we have come to accept and know it🙂
