Not that unusual really, when setting up a franchise in a new area there's typically extra 'help' given in various ways so they hit the ground running. Melbourne Storm for example

It is known that the vast of the locals there are incredibly friendly and helpful and the the footy players are treated like Gods .
There is also no shortage of social activities available in PNG’s major cities and townships
The Important thing is No player will be there on there own . They will be amongst a Squad of 30 players and Staff which will create a family environment away from home
The Temporary move to PNG can Potentially lead to a Permanent financial secure life back home in Australia , NZ , or England

Life is what we make of it
and PNG gives you the opportunity to make it an Interesting prosperous and happy one .
So dont listen to all those negative pessimistic people that do not have the capacity to see the spectacular rainbow from the grey clouds and expect only the worst of every out come

Not unlike the not inconsiderable concessions that the A F L provided back in the day to get teams established in Sydney , Brisbane and the Gold Coast .
Would certainly still like to see some type of a direct connection with whatever League set up presently operates in Fiji to try and get in some additional talent .
{P N G Hunters are still a viable presence in the Qld cup , not world beaters but still not a bad base to work off to help with an N R L presence

I believe they will still have a salary cap ... so although some "overs" might be paid, the only real $ advantage is the tax free. ... and little opportunity to go out and spend money.

I wondered in a previous post whether the agents commission is also tax free .. if so I would hate to think some disreputable managers push their more naive clients to go there for reasons other than it is a good career move ..

So much more at Stake here that just Financial reward
All the players that sign the contract will also write their name in the history of our game for ever
Those players will become the Great Pioneers of our games expansion
So much principle and pride at stake here .
A Great coach who will responsible and accountable for this Historic move and will make sure he recruits players with the right Attitude and Character

It will be interesting to see what is considered "market value" for some players if PNG are willing to pay them $2 million a season...
