Winging it
I was looking at the online Poker tournie at Centrebet where Choc and Glenn are guests and if you knock them out you win a signed Manly jersey + $200.

I then had a peek at the NRL season betting and here it is. The Eagles are drifting like the Marie Celeste.

Premiership - 2010 - WINNER
PARRAMATTA EELS  6.00
BULLDOGS  7.00
MELBOURNE STORM  7.50
ST GEORGE-ILLAWARRA  8.00
GOLD COAST TITANS  11.00
SOUTH SYDNEY  12.00
WESTS TIGERS  12.00
MANLY SEA EAGLES  14.00
BRISBANE BRONCOS  21.00
PENRITH PANTHERS  21.00
NORTH QLD COWBOYS  26.00
CANBERRA RAIDERS  34.00
NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS  34.00
NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS  34.00
SYDNEY ROOSTERS  34.00
CRONULLA SHARKS  41.00

I can't believe we've blown out past the Tigers and the Bunnies. What are they basing those odds on ? perceived lack of a halfback or potential lack of first string fullback ??

Underneath the radar again. It's all good for us. Let the odds blow out even further and then place your money on us & you may just win a motza.

Something is doing there, is anyone carrying any injury that we don't know about?

Sportbet have drifted out also, wish I would have waited instead of getting in on 11 to 1.

Parramatta  6.00
Bulldogs  7.00
Melbourne  7.50
St George Illawarra  7.50
Gold Coast  11.00
South Sydney  11.00
Manly  13.00
Wests Tigers  13.00
Brisbane  21.00
Penrith  21.00
Newcastle  26.00
North Queensland  26.00
Sydney Roosters  26.00
Canberra  34.00
NZ Warriors  34.00
Cronulla  41.00

A lot of people are going to lose money on the Eels this year, I just don't think they are going to backup

I was thinking the same thing. It's hard to lose a grand final, like we did, and win it the very next year. And Daniel Anderson's last NRL team, the Warriors, self-destructed after their loss to the Roosters.

This is the market I would frame:

Bulldogs  6.50
Melbourne  6.50
Manly  8.50
Parramatta  8.50
St George Illawarra  11.00
Gold Coast  11.00
South Sydney  12.00
Brisbane  15.00
Wests Tigers  18.00
Penrith  20.00
North Queensland  20.00
Newcastle  26.00
Canberra  31.00
NZ Warriors  31.00
Sydney Roosters  51.00
Cronulla  51.00

People here will suggest that Manly are specials, but I wonder how many of those same people would put their hard earned on Manly winning the Premiership?

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm just saying.

They probably started to write us off after the Souths trial loss.

Not sure if we are specials but i think we are better value than what is being listed

All depends on how the no.7 works out

The teams that have shortened are Titans Souths & Tigers. They are teams who made bigname signings. The performances of Bird & Burgess may have caused the bookies to think more cautiously, plus the Tigs got Lote. Under the radar is fine, how Des prefers it anyway.

The Bunnies are going to strong this year and they have good backing every year - The Tigers are a surprise. My guess is someone has put a bucket load down on them and thats where that came from.

I think 6th or 7th is a fair bet on our squad and its up to them to prove the odds wrong..

yeah, because wingers win Premierships (assuming they can keep 16 year olds out of their alleged hotel rooms).

I always put my money on Manly every year Ryno and there are plenty of passionate supporters who do. Part of the reason I picked my forum name. I usually top it up as well during the season when the odds become more favourable. I took the 11's and will look at taking the 14s as well. Those are crazy odds for the squad and year end experience we have.

I like the Dogs as having a very good chance and so too Storm. St George could surprise if the get over their season end jinx. The rest will find it hard to get over the hype of making and winning a GF, especially Titans and Souths. Parra I think will do reasonably but will ultimately disappoint.

I also put my money on Manly every year Ryno.  On those above us; Wests, lack forward power; Dogs, lack backs; Rabbits, lack halves; St George have gone backwards since last year.  We have the best balanced team and greater depth in all positions and are well worth putting dollars on. 2010 will be a terrific year, a premiership is not beyond us.

I hope your right mate. I'd give anything for us to win it this year ! Well, apart from anything homosexual..
