Valynce Te Whare

Hey silvertail, Im definitely not regular poster but wanted to get people insight on this one as if we don't resign lodge I reckon we should go for Valynce Te Whare from the Dolphins as he is looking for a new club and if we can get the best out of him and he gets fit then he will definitely come cheap and also has got some size but also incredible speed for a forward plus good footwork. Could be anything and would become a definite cult hero for manly even more so then he is now for the dolphins. Love everyone's thoughts! Cheers. Go Manly!!!!!

Scored a great distance try in Q Cup recently and he has had some big wraps on him from some of footy best judges....I reckon could be similar to a Talakai from Sharks type wrecking ball and 100% at a lower price worth a shot.
My biggest problem is he does have Massive potential, but Bennett who is only 2nd to Bellamy in getting players in the right mind frame, failed to do so....but agree has big potential

I also saw that try and was blown away with his speed. I agree totally like a talakai mold but faster and better foot work.I was having this conversation with my mate also but it was around Bennet not getting Milford firing and totally in shape so he reckons he won't do much for shuster either but he also pointed out it was along time ago he won a grand final and he had a stacked team at Brisbane with all those premierships but he didn't get Newcastle going either.I think it helps having support but its up to individual mindset and determination and maybe Valynce just needs a change of scenery and out of his comfort zone to get him firing and challenging himself!

Hardly a like for like replacement for Lodge.given Te Whare plays in the centres,a position Manly is well and truly covered in.As for Talaki comparisons, not sure he’s going to be coming up against Morgan Harper every week

Good player that will be a nice pickup for one of the clubs but I just dont think he fits into our current squad...

we have fast, agile backline with big boppers playing the edges... personally I could not see him pushing out any of our wing/centres and I dont think he has the skillset (agile, reactive, good passing skills) to replace Lawnton in the backrow... might be a good bench option with the work put in?

Just my thoughts...

Definitely someone i would think about, I remeber when the Phins played us at Brookie last season, his runs at the line were loaded with power. And as you say, he'd be cheap.

Thing is we have good outside backs, though he would add a difference if fit.....but preference would be to play in the backrow to add some oomph and again "If Fit" would be a gun attacking option, but on the other side of the coin how would his defence stack up against a fast attacking side when he gets tired ?
I stick by you that the potential is there, but obviously down in the attitude dept and would be a good signing at the right price for an opportunity - that way there is everything to gain and nothing to lose, as will absolutely destroy any NSW cup side and if fit, a great impact player at NL level as already proven in his debut season.

Defensive liability with very limited game awareness and questionable work ethic. No doubt a naturally gifted ball runner but that is his only good attribute. If Wayne Bennett couldn't get him to improve on his deficiencies I question if anyone could. Big fat no thanks from me.

He strikes me as the kind of player that could be an absolute world beater if he had the self-discipline, but will ruin his career by making too many visits to KFC drive thru. We already had one of those, and look how that ended.

He started with a bang but might be similar to the Shoe in having a battle with walking past a fast food outlet
