AS FAR as football mentors go, Tom Trbojevic has struck gold. He’s been gifted the cream of the crop.
The aspiring Australian fullback has fallen into the path of two of the game’s greatest No. 1s.

And they’re playing huge roles in turning young Turbo into the next star Kangaroos custodian.

Trbojevic credits former Manly teammate Brett Stewart as possibly the biggest influence on his fledgling rugby league career to date.

Also for all of those who felt free to trash Brett this year (make him turn up to training etc...he should be helping Turbo) it just goes to show that we, even with all the “mail”, have little or no idea on what is actually going on at the club.

Turbo's versatility is being well developed by Mal.

In the PM XIII he played 5/8, FB, Wing and Centre - the GI positions

Just stay healthy and soak up the skills in the Roos side :wait:

Great to see that Brett is still around and been helping Tom out. He was and still is a champion. Tom will learn a lot from him.

I loved Turbos comments about Billy's talk on the field and at training. He's identified that's an area he needs to improve on and how it will benefit the team.

Skies the limit for this kid.
Pray for no injuries and a long and prosperous career for the Maroon and White.

One of Brett’s and before him Wombat’s greatest gifts , the control they exerted from the back.

It’s a wonder Brett ever had a voice left at the end of a game!

Exactly mate. Part of our defensive problems would stem from that lack of communication across the park.
For Turbo to identify it being a problem so early is great...
Can't wait to see his improvement from working with the Aus team.

It’s a great opportunity for him, as much as we think he’s a prick young Turbo should be following Slater around like he’s a bad smell!

Tom would have to be earmarked as the next Aust fullback.

If Mal wanted Tedesco he would be in the team over Holmes. They wouldnt waste an opportunity like that. Also Holmes is a good player but don't see him as the Aust no.1.

Tom is also there because of his versatility.

Holmes will be back playing wing for sharks next year.

I really expect young Tommy to go up a few notches in 2018. The lessons he is learning right now about what it takes to be successful amongst the elite players will hold him in good stead moving forward. He and Jake are going to the heart of the club for years to come and our club is in good hands with them in the team!!

The opportunity for Tommy to play fullback for Australia once Slater retires is layed out right in front of him.
He continues to impress the national coach and selectors.
He’s technically the next in line. Tedesco didn’t even make the Australian squad and is instead playing for the Italian team. Val Holmes won’t even be the sharks fullback next year according to the sharks- they’re going to play Moylan at the back so they can get Holmes back to the top try scoring winger that he was in their premiership season. They want Moylan to sweep the plays out the back like Ben Barba did.
Tommy is the last man standing to claim fullback for State and Country going forward and he’s taking the right advice from the right people. We knew he was a smart kid, he’s just proving it to the rest of the game and giving them a glimpse of the future! Well done Tommy!

And you can throw Ridgey into that mix. Probably the most vocal, well organised and aggressive fullback in defence and attack I have seen.

Yes, I hadn’t forgotten him, one of the major reasons we did so well in that 1995-1997 era.

We had him as a guest on one of our MWTS tours to NZ, him and the Iro brothers , the fans loved that!

You can throw Slater into the mix there. When he on the field, was screaming at the forwards and threequarter line for the entire time they were defending last Friday.

At this rate of mixing, Tom might need to join the Thermomix cult.

Tom is a rugby league freak, every commentator loves him, rep selectors love him, in fact the only place I've every heard him criticised is here (and we're allowed to). There is so much improvement still possible in his game, it's amazing. Any NRL player with hopes of winning a comp would jump at the chance to play with Turbo, he's a player who could almost carry a team by himself, and he doesn't even have to do that at Manly.
