Turning point OR simply weak opposition ?

Possibly the worst Warriors performance ever and coached by Nathan Brown (wooden spoon specialist).
Let’s not get excited to much. I think we’ll struggle to make the 8.
Easy to say that but we turned up. We kept them quiet. We held the ball and applied the pressure. Even thou the warriors have had a poor season they have been in most of their games so to absolutely dominate says more about our performance than theirs.

Warriors are diabolical
So bad that Nathan Brown has thrown in the towel today and told em he ain’t coming back next year.
We showed signs that we can be good but we also went to **** pretty easy towards the second half. Any top 8 team wouldn’t be easy that easy to beat.

This week will be a good test. I know the Tigers aren't a finals team but they have a good game in them every now and then (e.g they actually beat Parra).

They also were able to score tries (and had a couple disallowed) with limited ball v Manly at Brookvale a few weeks back.

This game will tell us where we are at.
If we’re looking at whether or not we can beat the Tigers again, then I reckon that speaks volumes. We should be looking at whether we can beat the Roosters or Cowboys at least. Should obviously be able to beat Tigers if we’re contenders.
But that’s the thing, we’re not too far off the Tigers this year. Huge regression

Beat the Tig’s this week, go on with it next week against the cows, be fair to call it a turning point, don’t think the Tig’s will give up the 2 points as easily as the warriors did, we better turn up and want it more this week.
I hate these sort of games, where we come off a good win and play another team were supposed to beat, or believe we’ll beat, we need to treat this game like our season depends on it, because it probably does.
Respect the opposition, a focused 80, earn the win, losings not an option, our seasons dead in the water off the back of a loss.

Let's see at seasons end if we are indeed down with the tigers. I feel we will be nowhere near them.

Look at 2019. Turbo was gone and Brendan Elliott filled in for a large part of the year. The boys went pretty well once we got over the fact Tom was gone.

Same thing will happen this year. Now we know exactly who we have available things will change and the boys will start to fire.

Wouldn't be surprised to see 3 wins over next month and yes I'm including the cows and Melbourne I that. 2022 starts now.

Not saying it means we will have a great season from here, but there is history of them getting us going

2008 - Lost first 2, towelled them up 52-6
2019 - Lost first 2, put 40+ on them in Christchurch and went on a run to the finals
2021- Lost first 4, beat them round 5, prelim final

and you know I don't throw myself under the bus without collateral roadkill

We need another strong win v the Tigers, that will at least give them some confidence.
Agree with a comment you made earlier mate - to beat up Tigers this week and then then a BIG challenge - to get a Win over Cows at Brooky would be a real statement of intent from the players.
In saying that I'm still at the old cliche "1 week at a time" starting with these Tigers and the fate of Maguire can work 2 ways...the players will come out and play for their lives OR, they can fold like a deck of cards.....truth be known, if Manly play with the attitude of the NZ and Eels games, will simply roll them till they break and run away with it, the start will decide it and that's on Manly to show the authority and break them - strangle them with field position and rugged defence.

the teams getting close to a rebuild phase.
The Manly team? Hardly.
Next year with Schu ready to rumble and Turbo back keen to make up for lost time, pretty much all the pieces will be in the puzzle. That's assuming one or two astute new signings and say, a not guilty verdict or two.
Doesn't mean we win the GF but I don't think the squad strength will stop us, would still need some luck of course.

A wins a win right, so the main thing from Saturday was collecting 2 points.
But there was more....though a weak opposition, you can't control who you play, you can omly control How you play.
Manly turned up.
There was extra oomph in defence and far quicker in every part of the game, including more support in attack and just more desire than most games in 2022, so mid way through the season, good to see.
On the flip side who would NZ team have beaten....if anyone ?
When the opposition fail to put pressure on and lack intensity, it allows a team to gain momentum and basically control the game , as Manly did.
I ask the opinions of fellow Silvertails was it just a poor opposition or have the Seaeagles turned a corner and ready to finish the 2022 season strongly and play finals footy ??
Bit of both I guess, the way we controlled the game with less errors committed was the most pleasing thing for me. This now has to be our blueprint on the way we start our games. All of our forwards are now firing as a unit, I know it's only one game and one swallow doesn't make a summer. But we have a monster pack and always thought it's only a matter of time before everything falls into place, so looking forward to more improvement as a team unit this Sun arvo.

Were the Warriors that bad or...did Many actually play well and limit the opposition's chances. This Auckland side had only copped a serious hiding once before they came up against Manly. Could it be that Manly actually played well.

I think it's more that the opposition were atrocious but we are such a momentum team with lots of sliding doors moments I have no doubt it will give us some confidence to win a few games. And there is enough very poor teams for us to keep winning a few as we go forward.

But then one day again soon we will meet a disciplined and well drilled team again who will systematically dismantle us piece by piece as has been the case for some time now.

We are not a tough read
