Turbo to Superleague?

Can’t remember ever a superstar Australian player at his peak going there , it’s always those who just can’t make it , or those that have made it extending their career by a few years right at the end.

Tom will re-sign with us , this is all media bull**** to create clicks on their stories.
You and your crusade against the media.Have you ever thought that the media,in this case, are the conduits for a certain players manager?
And to help you out with your memory, off the top of my head,Jamie Lyon was a superstar Australian player that went to SL in their prime

Jamie Lyon is the exception. Imagine being stuck under contract at Parra!

Might surprise people to know that the Super League salary cap is 2.4 mill pounds or about 4 mill Aussie( 1/3 our cap) for 30 blokes. They have allowances above that for 3 marquee players that don't count towards cap. Nearly all the clubs are broke and the league itself is broke, hence trying to flog it to Vlandys.

All this SL stuff is bull**** , no one is paying Turbot 800, 000 pounds a year to play SL as a marquee player while the other 29 guys share 2.4 mill to play in a competition on its knees already.

It's ludicrous. Only blokes who go there are washed up oldies and blokes who can't crack it here.
I thought those guys came to us?

20 years ago, 1 player, to get out of parra contract.

Come on, i think we all understand Mark's point.

As I said off the top of my head but that doesn’t mean TomT cant or won’t be another. And TomT is not at his peak,so he probably falls into the category of players looking to extend his career.
Personally,I don’t believe hes serious about a move to SL,just yet.I think it’s more of a play to scare Manly into sorting their s**t out.He came out publicly after Des’ sacking saying he wasn’t happy with how things were going, but couldnt really threaten the club with anything given the time he still had on his contract. Now he’s in a better position to make a change

Tom came out last year asking to cut his income to play for manly
He switched to centres this year, while a lot of talk about there contracts was going on. I thought the timing was about contracts
Back at 1 now and slowly warming

Seibs or any coach would have trouble with ROI for differing reasons on chez, tom, jake and Josh A
All are in the news, going , gone or talked about
While Tom is my favourite player if your building a team for success, his cost and his presence doesnt add up anymore , and he had a fair few games uninjured but lacking impact this season

Its a warchest retuning little and any coach worth his salt would be trying to get favourable returns

Can seibold coach, is he liked, does any of this define his ability. Not sure
Are they conversations that should occur ……probably
Do managers, players , jounos bend the truth…..yes
Do ST posters have agendas …..yes

Can i wait to see how it unfolds ……yes

Bit hard to reconcile [ if it has "n been mentioned already ] this present speculation with Turbo "s supposed willingness to seek a reduction in his contract value and to be approved by the N R L some time ago or last season i think
Would or could only assume if that speculation was genuine that it indicated some mindset or intention by Turbo that he owed the club a bit from extensive lay offs and indifferent form and was actually serious about a reduction in pay and maybe even to help the club with cap pressures
But , maybe to a lesser extent on that one
E S L clubs would be just as aware as the League scene here with Turbo "s playing and injury woes for many years now and apart from financial constraints , surely would not be able to match any realistic or likely Manly offer ongoing from 26
Not quite as demanding overall playing in the E S L but just as likely to sustain injury particularly if previously quite injury prone
Also , plenty of opportunity for Turbo and his partner to travel or experience overseas locations
, Post footy career or after any say 2 year deal after 26 at Manly could be another matter and say , at age around 30 and still something to offer , may be more of a proposition then . Maybe not
Doubt if Manly would offer him any more then a 2 year deal after 26 , on current indications however, but probably on still very decent coin ,more in the 750 - 800 K one would presume .
No longer in the real marquee [ or near ] category now , Koula pretty much the main go to guy now or close to it
And again , that situation last season or so when he was apparently prepared to scale back his contract value a bit to take into consideration

That’s a very very short straw , I know Jamie personally and am great mates with Noel Cleal from my country days.

I was aware what was happening with Jamie LONG before most Manly fans , he swore me to secrecy as to “ the plan “.

You know very well why he went there , ZERO to do with money ( I in fact know he earned about a third of what he was getting at Parramatta at the time ) and all to do with not having to sit out those years due to his contract with a club he didn’t want to be there and only until the exact moment he could sign with us.

So come on , I know you want to beat me with every post BUT that’s not a valid example , is it ???

Jamie Lyon is the exception. Imagine being stuck under contract at Parra!
But that’s not because he was going to SL for the money , you’ll see in the above reply where I know the exact situation with that move , and in fact knew he was coming home to Manly maybe 6 months before it was announced.

He was on a fraction of the $$$ in that move to the UK but didn’t in any way want to turn up to Parramatta ever again.

So I think there’s an “ exemption “ to that one.

So Lyon is exempt from this because he didn’t go there for $$? Are you suggesting TomT would be going to SL for $$?
Tonie Carroll and Ryan Hoffman, just another 2 players who went to SL at their peak
