Turbo tied up long term

So this Tom thing has taken a turn for the worse.

Imagine, if you will, our 2027 backline without Tom, Garrick, Talau, and Hoopa.

Saab, Koula, Fogarty, Walsh and Brooks will be there with Faulalo plus 1

With Seibs as coach we are on our way.
Large may be well up to it by then , at least attacking wise , pretty good mover at 6 now or i am sure equally capable as a centre

Still doesn’t make sense. If it’s about defamation, suggesting the manager is the cause of a stalemate is much more inflammatory than suggesting there might be some clauses entered into the contract.

@LeonardCohen it is not about defamation.

The suggestion of the manager's role is well known in these negotiations however what may or may not be known, as they progress or changes to a matter/deals, are only exposed to certain individuals and it would become apparent as to who they could be or the firm advising either party.

I try and provide as much information as I can that would be readily available to multiple people within the Club and on the periphery, however, in some instances, there are events that transpire, the speed of which would only be known to certain individuals.

I hope this makes sense.

Yes it does @AndWeDon'tCare I am sure that there are many posters on the site that are very grateful to you for your insights and information.

Geez they're useless, especially if they all want this to happen.
Hate for them to taking the smoko order for the lads on the building site.

We are not the worst club let me assure you of that.

There is another NSW club, who, at the present time, require no less than 10 sets of eyes to review player contracts, yes including those that sit on the duly appointed football committee.

The paranoia at that particular club is so bad that not one board member trusts another board member given the information that was, at one point, spewing out on a daily basis.

I made a joke one day to a board member that perhaps he should take a briefcase into the next board meeting (due to an edict being issued at the time that no mobile phones were to be taken into any board meetings) akin to George Constanza and his tenure on the Susan Ross Foundation.

I had a little chuckle at my suggestion, suffice to say the gentleman thought it was a good idea.

Id be interested to know what you guys put his $$ worth as fair value, are majority ok with $850k?

Very good bloke who got caught up in a bad situation, which he didn't start and was righfully deemed "not guilty"
Known him from Cronulla over 30 years and though has a job to do, very straight forward bloke and after meeting every agent about, Sutto is the imo the most direct out there....but has a duty to his clients, so obviously will try get the best result for them....and himself....like the rest of us.
Hey Sutto! Is that you?

If you can keep Turbo on the field, and unfortunately that is not predictable, Turbo is definitely worth the $850,000 a year. Its no accident that when he is fit he is one of the most dominant backs in the competition. In my opinion there are only two options. Pay the money or let him go. The latter would be damaging to the club for a time, but in a few years we'd have moved on. But to play the money game with him shows negotiating ineptitude. The agreement was verbally made apparently. To suddenly try to alter the deal creates distrust. Manly's recruitment strategies over the past decade have shown a lack common sense in my opinion

Can you give us some geographical clues? Or perhaps the club’s name, in the form of an anagram?

We will take it from there.😉

Are the clauses tied to the number of games Tom plays each year ?
This would be a common sense arrangement, but I struggle to see a situation where the RLPA would agree to a player's salary being potentially impacted by injury or a contract agreed effectively for match payments. Whilst it is more feasible with this situation/dollars, but as a precedent, it would be detrimental for a player at the lower end of the pay scale.
