The Prince was more than just a great player during his era
I believe when we were at our best he also controlled the dressing shed, the training sessions, and off field activities and team rituals
Even the mad professor would look for buy in
The Prince was never captain but he was much more
Agree about wombat
Well he is after all wombat
Greatness for many clubs
But I will never underestimate the value of the Prince of brookvale

Good news for the Sea Eagles with scans clearing Tom Trbojevic (hamstring) & Daly Cherry-Evans (back) of significant injury (via SMH).
Both players will be monitored during the week but club is hopeful they will be available in Round 3. Huge win especially for Turbo!

It’s sad , but Tom will never get to be remembered as Manly’s greatest fullback , despite his two knee reconstructions Snakie is streets in front. And Wombat ( a different era I know ) heads and shoulders above them all.

I also believe the brothers won’t get to taste the ultimate victory they so richly deserve , and much of this as a result of Tommy.

Because when he’s firing on 8 cylinders , we are a top 4 team , when he’s not , verge of the 8, or sneak into a lower position.
Well said

Tom is the best ball runner I have ever seen in any position, he sees gaps and opportunities that mere mortals simply dont see. He is probably the most "freakish" player I coulld imagine.

Its premierships that really count and as you say Tom and Jake will never be winners. I dont think Manly willl ever win another comp for reasons I have shared elsewhere, we are not alone in that department.

I agree with you, Eadie's brilliant goal kicking and general kicking is a skill the other two dont have. Plus his defence was better than both.

Snake was the "Prince". A genius and I dont care what anyone says he was never 2nd to the grub from the Storm. Even the Storm knew they couldnt contain him in the 2007 GF, one day someone will admit their tactic to "take him out of the game".

I havent even mentioned Matthew Ridge or Dale Shearer.
Eadie was one of the best power - speed based runners in his era , hard to say how he would go in the modern era but at just shy of 100 kgs in his playing days , probably real well .
Very valuable goal kicker and of course the regular i st pick in Australian sides for ages at full back .
Snake in a class of his own also .
Not in all areas but just on ability and skill level , Turbo would probably rate the best ,
Don"t win a Daily M award just playing part of a season if those attributes did not apply in general to his game

Manly are breathing a sigh of relief after scan results on Tom Trbojevic’s troublesome hamstring have cleared the superstar fullback of any significant injury.

Trbojevic and skipper Daly Cherry-Evans (back spasms) will both be monitored this week after being forced from the field in Friday’s loss to the Warriors.

Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold confirmed on Sunday morning that precautionary scans came back positive for Manly’s two most influential figures, with both Trbojevic and Cherry-Evans expected to be available for Sunday’s home game against Canberra.

Manly will also have speedster Tolutau Koula (thigh) and veteran prop Siosiua Taukeiaho (knee) back for the Raiders clash

Just my opinion, but if Turbo is fit, he needs to play. He's missed so much footy over the years, that precautionary rests are out. I'm not suggesting he should play with a niggling injury, but if he can play, he should not be rested on the grounds of proximity to earlier concerns.

Part of the reason we lost on Friday was because we didn't respect the Warriors, errors leading to poor position, not getting into the arm wrestle, etc.

What message would it send to the Raiders if we rested our best player against them?

They would be absolutely filthy, and ready to tear in. Ricky relies on that "us vs them" mentality, especially as they're already strong outsiders this week. It would send the message - again, that we don't respect the opposition enough.

I know his scans have come back clear, but the fact that we're paying him over a million per season and only getting about half a season out of him most years has really gone beyond a joke.

We need him on the field, not off it constantly injured. I hate suggesting moving him to the centres because I do think we need his skill at fullback. But we also can't afford to have him off the field and maybe fullback is just too much for his body.
