Not sure when his contract is up for a renew but if the club offers him those sort of dollars again they are literally crazy.

Love the guy
Love his passion
Love what he brings to this club

But, in no way worth 1.3 million or whatever they pay him due to the amount of games he misses.

He’ll need to take a big haircut or some other club can have a crack.

Ditto with Jake but this is Tom’s thread
He is on 1.1 most reports say.

I'd be hopeful of bringing him back to circa 800k

Great player , but that stat from above ( missing 78 games in 5 years ) is significant and if doesn’t seem to be abating so there’s no way we can afford that money next time.
Including this season 7 seasons

And my math has it at 70 regular season games but yes, point remains, missed so much footy.

I'd still resign him at 800k though

At what health level would you re-sign him for 800k for 2027 and beyond though?

For me that's not the Tom we are seeing this year- which means missing a lot of games or playing hobbled.

The guy can barely string together two games where he is reasonably healthy - who knows what it will look like in another 18 months time as well.

While I accept "market" value would probably be around your number of 800k if he were to truly give us a hometown discount the number would be closer to 600k.

Tom is such a Brilliant player
A Great Club Role Model
When he is Fit he is worth a Fortune
Unfortunately he has proven to be consistently in the casualty ward spending minimum time on the field .
I just wish his bad luck with injuries would end

When he does play, most of the time he looks busted. Tom has lost a lot of the explosive pace that made him so dangerous as a ball runner. He is not the same guy and I doubt he ever will be. I wouldn't be offering more than 700k. He wasn't chosen for SOO this year so I think we might be permitted to register him around that price.

Interesting pre spin

Manly have begun conversations with the management of Jake and Tom Trbojevic about extending their respective careers on the Northern Beaches before they hit the open market on November 1.

The brothers are contracted until the end of 2026, but Sea Eagles chief executive Tony Mestrov has personally opened a dialogue with their manager to begin working on a deal to keep both as one-club players.

With the Sea Eagles still reeling from their messy break-up with skipper Daly Cherry-Evans, club powerbrokers have got on the front foot to avoid a repeat with their home-grown star duo.

Sources close to Tom who spoke on the condition of anonymity told this masthead the 28-year-old does not want to impact on the club’s future and would be willing to walk away from the Sea Eagles if an extension came at the cost of retaining other key players.

Young gun Lehi Hopoate, who recently extended his Manly deal until the end of 2027, is seen as the long-term successor to Tom at fullback having impressed in Tom’s absence due to injury.

A move to five-eighth for Tom was previously touted, but the arrival of Jamal Fogarty next season has placed a question mark over such a move given the Sea Eagles also have Luke Brooks on their books.

Tom is in no rush to make a decision on his future, nor does he want Manly to feel obliged to make him an offer as a mark of respect for what he has done for the club.

Trbojevic does not want to play against Manly and has told those close to him he would be open to a move to the Super League in 2027 if it was in the Sea Eagles’ best interest for him to leave the club.

Tom has previously shown his willingness to put the club above his own needs. This masthead reported last year that the NRL rejected a request from the Manly superstar to take a $750,000 pay cut in the salary cap over the next two years as a gesture of good faith.

The Sea Eagles fullback, who has been plagued by injuries over the past five years, applied to reduce his $1.15 million salary by almost a quarter after he was sidelined for two months following a hamstring injury last year.

When Trbojevic is fit, he is still regarded as one of the best players in the competition and would demand in excess of $1 million a season on the open market.

However, his injury history will add to the complexity of negotiations as Manly weigh up what constitutes a fair and reasonable offer to keep Trbojevic at the club.

The Sea Eagles have also indicated they would be in a position to offer Jake a one-year extension. Both Tom and Jake are on back-ended deals. Jake is likely to have to take a pay cut of close to 50 per cent to remain at the club.

The Sea Eagles have indicated they will offer him around $500,000-$550,000 for a one-year extension. Jake has previously indicated he, too, would never play against Manly.

“It just wouldn’t happen,” Jake Trbojevic said about the prospect of playing against the Sea Eagles in the aftermath of Cherry-Evans’ decision to leave Manly.

“I couldn’t do it, personally. People do that, but no, I definitely couldn’t imagine it. You never say never. We never thought Glenn Stewart would leave the club, [even though] he got forced out. We never thought Cherry-Evans would leave the club.

“Right now, my answer would be no. I love this club; it means the world to me. I’ve been here since I was 14 in junior development.”

Turbo is such a selfless guy... DCE could learn a thing or two.

I've heard a few people say that we might as well play him as a Lomax style roaming winger, if he isn't fully there, and this would work in the future if Hoppa is at the back full-time. Judging by these comments, he wouldn't have a problem with that. I don't think Talau or Faulalo would be better wingers than Tom.

As for Jake, $500k sounds about right. I think his post-30 decline came early, so I don't think he's going to drop off comparatively. If we had another alpha prop in the Haas mould, we could unlock him and Paseka in offence, with Jake given the role of tackling everything he sees.

I'd say below 500k

Definite savings approaching with those three instances but also will need definite upgrades to Lehi , Bully , Burbo and maybe to a lesser extent Koula who is probably on decent money already .
Maybe even Talau and Faulalo
Could be a few hundred grand in resultant savings but would more look to the current contract to Aloiai in particular to gain some more tangible contract savings if he may not be retained soon and taking his present deal into account

It's 78 club games he has missed including the ones he misses to play SOO since 2019

2019 - 12/26 = 14 games missed
2020 - 7/20 = 13 games missed
2021 - 18/27 = 9 games missed
2022 - 7/24 = 17 games missed
2023 - 11/24 = 13 games missed
2024 - 20/26 = 6 games missed
2025 - 7/13 = 6 games missed

In that period he has played 82 and missed 78.

His just above the 50% mark in terms of games played since 2019

Thanks!

It's been awhile since I've read the good ole line of: Sources close to Tom who spoke on the condition of anonymity told this masthead...

But Manly must've won a game last weekend so away we go.

Yes well Galvin is settled now, so it's back to us. Let's rip into manly for a few weeks until we lose again. Then it's the DCE show again, that is dragging us down.
