Turbo and Origin

Based on his performance tonight vs. the Cows, he shouldn’t be anywhere near discussion for Origin 3. He’s underdone and quite frankly, has been a liability all year.

However, if he does get a call from Mag, I hope he’s smart enough (for his own sake and that of the club who pays his salary) and honest enough to decline any suggestion of him being selected.

He claims to love the club and I’m sure he does. But if he runs out this year for NSW on Wednesday week, it’ll be hard for me to fully back him in the future.

I love Tommy but mag would be psychotic if he picked Tommy and I think would be disrespectful to the manly boys and fans if Tommy agreed to play, as a qld fan I would be much more worried if best was their compared to Tommy.

Based on tonight's performance he shouldn't be picked but he said in the interview he'd play if Madge selected him. Not in his hands, if he's picked he has to play for nsw or sit out for us so he might as ell play I reckon.

NSW would be crazy to pick Turbo!!

He has come back playing in the same gear he went out on, no up tempo football and the effort plays were not there, so many aspects of his game he should be below a fair few when it comes to earning the jumper on form.

Don’t do what Billy did and pick players on past tense like Capewell and Kafausi..

well technically it is partially in his hands because he can say that he wants to focus on club footy, which I think he should of already made clear. Jack wighton said that before the origin series which I think shows a lot of how much a player cares about his club and their character.

Not the way it works mate, he can say that to Madge but if he's selected he can not play for nsw but he will be out that game for us. Remember Jaimie Lyon had this same situation and played for nsw under duress.

Shouldn't even be a conversation. If he's chosen over Burton or Best next week it's farcical.

He couldn't handle the pace of tonight's game, Origin is twice as fast!
I agree but it was mentioned frequently on the ABC broadcast tonight. Interestingly when asked, Billy Moore said he hoped he was picked because he’d offer nothing.

oh interesting I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I don't remember the Jamie Lyon situation as I was 12 years old at the time and I have the memory of a goldfish.

Wighton retired last year and was given clearance by the NSWRL/ARLC to do so,hence why he wasn’t stood down from club footy.Any suggestion that he was thinking of making himself available this year, was purely media speculation

Turbo's post-game interview on ABC Grandstand was telling.

He was flat, un-enthusiastic and unlikely to have seen his form as Origin-ready.

He admitted he was gassed after 5mins, and from all accounts it was a fair self-assessment.

It was suggested Madge would reach out to Turbo to ask whether he would be up for it, based on that interview I would have to say - No Chance. The proof of performance is compelling.

If (a) Madge believes that was enough to show viability for Origin and (b) Turbo self-evaluates that into an Origin-ready performance, then NSW are screwed and desperate. PS Madge, i'm also available for selection Madge, at Fullback, Halfback and Hooker at the same time thanks. Trust me.

Turbo won't be in Origin this year - he simply ain't ready. IMO, the only risk to his availability is they pick him as 18th-man to bolster the training camp - a role he would be viable for as long as he isn't needed on the field.
