Humphreys played various roles coming through. Mostly in the halves. Only the last few Siebold years was he forced to play 9.

I said this yesterday, and I'll say it again... Just a trial.

We literally could not accommodate Humphreys within the cap for 2025. We could not keep up with South's. Hypotheticals are stupid when the reality is that he wouldn't have had the opportunity at Manly he has at South's.

He gets a genuine shot at being a starting halfback at Souths. The alternative option he had, was be at most, a utility, kept out of the halves by DCE (who some of you will regret underrating when he retires), and Brooks, and on minimum wage. He was never a hooker.

Yes he is killing them so are the Fanu brothers at the tigers and Weekes at the Raiders . Great retention decisions by Manly we are really a stupid club .

Honestly everyone getting worked up about a trial game , yes we had some first graders playing ( they had none ) , most of the Penrith side were their NSW cup side , and have played together a fair bit , whereas our side was largely stitched together.

I’m not too worried , we looked great when Bully & TKO were on at the same time, and that’s just two first graders.

This competition in the trials is bull**** , for years and years trials were just , 30 players turning up, everyone got 10–15 minutes , scoreline were irrelevant.

UNTIL

The NRL made it a seperate competition and suddenly it’s important to win & win big !!

We’ll go okay , no need to worry

and we saw it in the final against the Dogs, previously I have seen him surprisingly run down a few times.

I feel Koula needs to be given space rather than making something of his own, whereas Hopoate is a footballer in every sense.

For some reason Koula seems to run out of gas on some of his long runs downfield.

TBH I see a lot of similarities between Jake Simpkin and Matty Ballin. Not flashy, not big runners of the ball (though I'd say Simpkin is slightly faster), but Simpkin's strength, like Matty in attack, was his dummy half passing. The main difference between them really is that Matty was a better defender, though Jake ain't that bad.

This is how I see our 3 dummy halves:

Lachlan Croker - good dummy half kicker, good defender, mostly poor passing, next to no running game.
Jake Simpkin - Good dummy half passer, decent defender and runner.
Gordon Chan Kum Tong - Good runner, half-decent passer, not the best defender.

I'm betting that Simpkin gets the start with Seibold having Gordon on the bench until Froggy returns. After that, who knows?

Personally I would put Tevaga on the bench instead of GCKT, at least he can cover a few positions

People moaning about our retention will probably be singing a different tune when Onitoni Large makes his debut.
