Is there any links or details behind this statement?

Considering 11 NRL clubs have used more than 26 players in 2020 so far and another 2 have used 26, the statement sounds like April 1st joke.

It's been mentioned numerous times on fox. Bellamy spoke about it a couple months ago and recently an article about Waddell fearing he may miss out on a contract as the squad will be reduced. You obviously don't have Foxtel? 😉

Surely Fainu doesn't use up a spot while he is stood-down by the NRL.

Haha are they kidding. Look at the injury toll under these ridiculous rules now. Every club is struggling to use under 26 except 1 that should be using more.

It's definitely for next year as the NRL cannot afford a full 30 man squad due to the Corona virus

Isn't the "the squad" how you make up the cap? I.e. you get 30 players that all have to fit into the cap and then there become some fringe player issues if you have a bunch of injuries because of match payments?

I'm not sure how they would work it out. Obviously some players would have to be let go and others possibly dropped to development contracts.
Apparently the NRL can't afford 30 players next year so are looking to reduce the squads. Which means NO room for mediocrity

I'd be keeping Waddell. Jetski, Thommo, Trex, and Walker probably unlucky. That 4 straight up.
