Tommy Talau

One tough hombre for sure .
Was starting to lose a bit of ommp and resilience the last couple of seasons of his career in around 81 , 82 but after almost 10 seasons being one of the real hard men at A R L level for Manly and on the international stage at times , little wonder
Outstanding career and of course a Manly junior to boot
1979 was the season when a knee injury caught up with him. After a reconstruction, he was good to go during the 1980 season.

Then he had a great 1981 season where his name (and Krilich’s) were canvassed by (chairman of selectors) Ernie Hammerton for Australian selection.

Krilich did return to Australian duties the following year, so you can assume it was no idle musing on Hammerton’s part.

Meanwhile Randall spent about 12-15 games under suspension during 1982. He only returned to the field during the final rounds of that season.

Jurbo. Great bloke. Has been a great player. The best defender of his era. But time catches up with everyone.

I agree. If a poster is sloppy with his/her spelling then chances are their logic is also scattered.
It's a small thing and doesn't bother me overly, my name has often been misspelled and I don't lose sleep over it.
But ... if you want to show respect, then its only a small effort to make. Correct spellings are available to everyone here at the push of a button! (even for that new Chook centre from rugby)(seems a good player actually!)

Wally Lewis said the hardest he had ever been tackled was by Terry Randall. The whole fibro silvertails rilvary was Masters trying to get his team to stand up to Randall because he put the fear of god into all of them .Randall also laid out english hard man Jim Mills on the kangaroo tour in the early 70s which started his legacy as the hardest man in the game.
My favorite tackle of all time was Terry Randall legally flattening John Donnelly. Donnelly was taking the ball up from a set move, trying to intimidate the Manly pack, and TR just raced up and flattened him. A legendary Manly moment.

Legendary tackle. People in the crowd that day reckon that hit was massive and could be heard all around the ground. The wests forwards went after Randall that day and started throwing punches at him from his first hit up. Randall drops the ball and takes two steps forward and starts throwing back. Next scrum he belts Donnelly. They should show the video to our current set of forwards to fire them up!
