Tommy T Injured - usa bound

Turbo can run though obviously he can't or won't run at top pace.

But his passing is way off. Either he is too preoccupied with focussing on how he runs, or something.
Our second set coming off our line, we created space but his pass went behind Parker. At first I assumed Parker fluffed it - Nooo Parker!!! 😡 - but the fault was a bad pass from Tom.

And he did a few more that also cost us. No wonder he's looking depressed on field, he's our best player but it's just not happening for him yet.

It will come, but it's tough to watch just now.
To me it could be the emphasis he is putting on his new running style has reduced his ability to "react" or play natural as a footballer
Basically he is thinking about running which clouds his judgement in other ways.

In no way am I saying that I am similar but....I have had long standing knee injuries which mean that I have to try avoid certain movements. This meant i have tried to reteach myself how to run which has impacted my ability to park the crap level park football i do now

Can not imagine the pressure / process he must be going through

Listening to Turbo speak after the match and his words don't match his on-field actions. If, as he says, he is not injured then it is his mental state that is the concern. He looks dejected and defeated.
I hope someone is looking at this aspect not just his physical issues.

Confidence? Even subliminally it can diminish performance. He's had some pretty nasty injuries and it must have its effect mentally. He was brutal and almost care free in 2021. Maybe he wants that back, but his wariness of injury yet again may be hindering. Again, patience

Last night was the first time I've had the dreaded feeling that it won't come back. He was simply not up to it. He is ineffective in attack, his defence getting across (or not) for one the Bronco tries was painful to watch and his confidence looks shot. I couldn't help but think that if it's good enough for Shu to be dropped, it's good enough for Tom. Would sending him to Blacktown make things worse. Who knows??!! Something dramatic needs to change though.

You know what? His passing game has never been great. Even when he was at peak, otherworldly form, it was his speed and strength that stood out. He doesn't have the freakish hands that Snake, for example, had, and has always been prone to pushing the final pass forward or behind his man.

He did look better in the second half, right up until his passing game let him down again, so maybe the confidence will come back sooner than we think. But I can't help but think the team needs to do better first. Hold onto the ball, build pressure, at least give him something to work with.

Haha sending Turbo to Blacktown? Now I've heard everything!

Yeah, I know. I wasn't saying we should but but he certainly isn't looking like 1st Grade right now. I think at the very least he should be doing what Shu did and drop himself from the upcoming rep game to try and get himself right for Manly. Actually, Fittler would be nuts to pick him.

Yep, I remember Fittler having a go at him a couple of times about the forward passes he used throw all the time. But then, he ha also thrown some good ones for wingers. But anyway ..........

Perhaps now that he has got the second Brisbane horror show in a row vs the Sub-tropicals out of the way, he will play well next week.

Like he did against Parramatta (the week after Brisbane) last year…until umm…yeah…perhaps not.

The most disconcerting part of the entire game v. Broncos for me was Turbo's poor attempted tackle on Cobbo as he was scoring his second try. An in form Turbo would probably have bundled him over the side line.

Obviously, he is lacking in confidence & this is causing tentativeness in some areas of his play. It must be so difficult to fully regain self belief after multitudinous injury setbacks. It is not only the concern about being re-injured, it's also the constant external noise about him being injury-prone. He is a champion footballer & hasn't lost his ability. It is just a matter of tapping into it again (IMO).

Many Sea Eagles supporters would prefer Turbo not to be selected for Origin. However, I think playing with elite players again (even if only on the wing) would be a big boost for his confidence. It could well springboard a return to full form which would help the Sea Eagles win more matches as the season progresses.

In all honesty, he would be better off throwing the "knowledge learnt" from the witchdoctor in the bin.

Just go back to natural movement, and if he gets injured, he gets injured.

This is painful to have to witness.
forrest gump running GIF
Agree. Forget about the “magic legs” & go back to his normal running style.

Tom Trbovejic post Broncos game:

“I felt really good out there. [I’m] obviously not playing the footy I want to play at the moment which is disappointing, but no injury is holding me back. I know there is a lot of speculation in the media about it, but I know I feel really good in my body, I just have to find some form on the field.”

I think turbos influence on the team is screwing with turbo.
his importance on manlys outcome is evident from the outside and the inside
the corso sprint looked like it hurt him a little mentally which pushed his extra workload and brilliance
the team is on his shoulders and his longevity into a season weighs heavily on his mind, after the clubs very public extra treatment and his desire to not be injured again not just from his perspective but the teams

he needs a sports shrink i reckon. He is not the messiah

Yeah and probably quite understandable. When he came back after Corso-gate he immediately exploded into top form, but the pre-season injury this time has really rocked him.

So it's wonderful how everyone here and at the club is being really patient and encouraging our champion as he makes his way back this time!
