Tolu try

I don’t think I’ve ever screamed and shouted with celebration as much as that Koula try in all my years supporting Manly.

I’ve well over 100 viewings, that’s gotta be the best thing I’ve ever seen Manly do on a footy field. I still get watery eyes and pump my fist every team I watch it.

Except all of the 2025 season, 30th (geez, can you believe that! 😳) anniversary of the 1995 GF.
I need to let go hahaha, who said I hold grudges!
Ha I am guilty of that myself mate, if it’s a consellation you got us back not from 1995, but 2014. That game we won by golden point on Snakes 200th shattered hearts of many Manlys fan I know, on Sunday you did the same to us. I think it hurt more much because we have been up **** creek for 8 years whereas you guys haven’t ha ha, I’ll always keep it up my sleeve though when they want to be smart arses 🤣 all good fun though👍

Had to watch it again, we had them all over on our right edge and Turbo and Garrick both played through the line there which was great, but everything Kola did was amazing, the step, the dummy!

Fair enough, but you need to understand that for us, not being in the finals since 2021 feels like 50 years, and no premiership since 2011 feels like 200 years

That will go down as one of the great tries in our history up there with Hill V Broncos, Bozo in 73 GF, Beaver 08 GF, Wolfman 13 final v Souffs
They were all sensational tries … but I think the best I’ve seen in a grand final was that Steve Gerrin ( spelling???) try for Canterbury when Ted glossip was coaching them!

Yeah that magical try, I was just analysing it and that's why I would like to see us trying a few deep attacking plays from our own end because as we all saw Koula once he gets some room to move he can be quite elusive when he is on the fly.

Seibold has to figure out a way to make more space for Tolu to exploit. Gotta be a way.

Probably the biggest "fail" from our coaching staff this year. That try hopefully would have given Tolu a taste of open spaces and his lethal capabilities out wide. To me he appears to deliberately ruck into opposition defenders rather than trying to run around them. Admittedly he always seems to get the ball with at least 3 defenders already around him. At one stage this year he was in the top 10 post contact metres list.....as opposed to the list with most tries, most try assists or tackle breaks. That imo is a sad indictment of our coaching staff.

On the face of it, possibly yeah.

But the other side is that the player himself has to find a way. Tremendous runners such as James Roberts and even Kotoni Staggs (not that I've seen that many of their games) never seem to find as much as space as their talents suggest they should.

I'm certain it's something Seibold has been alert to as soon as he was signed to Manly. Let's hope something clicks soon to get Tolu tearing it up more, rather than just hitting it up!

Something funny about the try I seen as it played out and felt a few times "Oh no, have we missed this opportunity"
When DCE first dropped that inside ball to Turbo, the Star fullback poked his nose through and DCE actually comes flying through in support and if Turbo gives it.....or would have been DCE with the fullback to beat and support either side.....the smart play from Ben T was to just give early ball to Koula, as the longer he ran with the ball it gave the cover defence time to close in.....but no complaints with the net result....a great team try and they all contributed beautifully.

The Great Toula Try credit must go to Seibold for having the foresight to see that Toula is one of the Great centres of our era
When you have freaks like Toula you do not need a game plan
No game plan stops Ex factor players
Toulas Brilliance would have made the Great Incomparable Immortal proud
