Terrible.
We bombed four or five tries through errors or lack of attention to detail. I honestly think we wouldn't be half as bad if we turned up looking like a team that was switched on. Instead we look like we're going through the motions. Whether that is because of poor on-field leadership or poor coaching I don't know... I suspect both.
The play looked like it died with Tom every time he touched the ball in an attacking position. No punch, no pace and it looked like he just wasn't overly exerting himself. This is important as to me it seems like he's the on-field leader (even though DCE is the captain). He looked very ordinary in the middle of last year but was noticably better at the end of the season. We can only hope his form improves otherwise he has to make way for Lehi.
DCE took some poor options as well, looks out of form. I wouldn't be as critical if he didn't frequently look like he confuses his outside men by constantly running across the field looking for someone else to volunteer to be tackled instead of having a dig into the line himself and open some space for a runner.
Olakau'atu will be an enormous loss, hopefully he has a complete recovery.
