It may have already been said/reported but after reading Hasler's statement yesterday the following timeline is created with a few assumptions added.

Hasler approaching the board for a pay increase in April/May and the Board did not proceed.
The I guess Hasler and the Dogs talk in May/June about taking over after Kevin Moore completes his contract at the end of 2012. So this is when Hasler activates a clause in his contract and secures coaching at Manly for 2012.
Then Moore is sacked after this happens (if I recall July?). Then the rest is history, shrouded in mystery and can we assume, Hasler to Dogs for 2012 at $750k or stay at Manly at $400k or $450k.

MOre like this.....I think you'll find negotiations took place earlier in the year but not quite to Des's liking, we hear (reported in some papers) just $50k more would have secured him at that point BUT times were tough back then, no major sponsor, club in loss making situation, also I recall a comment being made by Scott Penn that Des didn't want to have the 2011 campaign clouded by negotiations so wanted it left until after the GF....but at some point he then goes to market, returns to the Sea Eagles and starts a bidding war between the two clubs with the deal done (again so we hear) just before the GF to go to the Dogs for a reported $750K a year

That's what transpired I feel!
