Time out

I’m taking my own advice and taking a time out from silvertails again. I love this club too much to make myself wallow in misery. I’d like to summarize a couple of my thoughts.

- yes we are playing like ****
- yes there appears to be some issues culturally
- no I don’t think it’s Barrett’s fault as such. It’ll be his fault if he doesn’t right the ship before the end of the year but players need to take personal responsibility. they’re all adults and they all gush about him as a coach. They’ve got the coach they want
- no des is not the answer. His coaching is tired and outdated. He crippled us and then he’s crippled the dogs. I don’t want 3 years of success and then five years of turmoil.
- yes this cap **** is ****ed and now we’re crippled by injuries. This can’t be overstated.
- yes I genuinely believe we don’t cop a fair rub of it. I watched the game on fox and it was an absolute joke that they were only blown offside once the entire match. Tim Mannah never once touched the ball with his foot. Pivotal decisions are regularly made against us to shift momentum. As a spectator it pisses me off above all else. I hate losing but I’m not a bad loser, unless I don’t feel the result is fair.
- no tooves is not the answer. I don’t think he is a top flight coach. I think he had a team of superstars that an a-grade coach could have got to the finals. I’m comparison I think we outperformed our roster last year with Baz. As much as I dislike him I trust Gus Gould’s judgment of coaches more than I trust this forum who see tooves and des through rose colored glasses.
- lastly anyone who thinks Barrett isn’t passionate or doesn’t understand the “manly way” has clearly never listened to the bloke for even 30 sec. he seems crushed at the moment. He looks ill after losses. I want to see that disappointment. I want to see that passion for the club. People want him to drop players but our squad situation simply doesn’t allow it.

Right now is crap. There’s no sugar coating it. It’s horrible. But the night is always darkest before the dawn.

See you all in a few weeks (unless I get lured back with a good win haha)

I’m out. It has been fantastic spending time here every day for many years. I genuinely am fond of many of you, and love the humour, insight, banter, inside goss etc.

But there is more to life and I’m going cold turkey.

Books to read, family to raise, games to attend, waves to catch.

The internet and devices, along with endless navel gazing over wins and losses is taking too much of my time and brain.
