Current Status: 24/7 Manly Fan
With Bk retiring and Menzies not costing as much to re-sign as he is a long term concession on the cap and all clubs getting 700k extra to spend, how would this team go for us in 07, word is that O'Meley is looking at getting out of his last season at the dogs and Lyon is still a possibility even though fitz is saying he is at parra, and Widders Pritchard and matuia are off contract as well, so ive come up with a team that could win a comp for Manly, Beaver and us in 07

01.Brett Stewart
02.Steve Matai
03.Jamie Lyon**
04.Steve Bell
05.Michael Robertson
06.Travis Burns
07.Matt Orford
08.Brent Kite
09.Michael Monaghan
10.Mark O'Meley**
11.Frank Pritchard**
12.Anthony Watmough
13.Steve Menzies

14.Kylie Leuluai
15.Mark Bryant
16.Reni Matuia**
17.Dean Widders**

18.Chris Hicks
19.Glenn Stewart
20.Adam Cuthbertson
21.Jason King
22.Paul Stephenson
23.Matt Ballin
24.Sean Meaney
25.Shane Dunley
Sounds great in theory, but I hear Lyon's agent is on his way back to UK with a Parra contract for Lyon to sign. I also can't see O'Meley signing with us, I just can't.
Absolute worst case scenario, and we don't sign a sole:-

01. Brett Stewart
02. Michael Robertson
03. Steven Bell
04. Steve Matai
05. Chris Hicks
06. Travis Burns
07. Matt Orford
08. Jason King
09. Michael Monaghan
10. George Rose
11. Anthony Watmough
12. Brent Kite
13. Steve Menzies

14. Shayne Dunley
15. Kylie Leuluai
16. Mark Bryant
17. Luke Williamson

So regardless of who we sign, the sign are good. To be honest, with Steppa available to replace any injured backs, do we REALLY need Lyon.

You would HAVE to chase Fielden, Creagh, Simms, and players of that ilk.
Pritchard is over valued, and a loose cannon in my opinion. If I were recruiting, Ben Creagh and/or Ashton Simms would do very well to start, then Fielden would be next on the list.
We need to take a Swans approach, and have a "no dick head" policy at the club. Who wants a player that threatens to go to Union everytime his contract is up. Plus, he hasn't been too quiet about his feelings on Penrith and their management. Just eeks of Michael Monaghan in 05.

Ben Creagh is a no nonsense, absolutely talented player, who is also very young. Hopefully he's good mates with Brent Kite !!!
Ben Creagh would be great mate!!

I saw the segment on Craig Stapleton this morning on the footy show... here is a bloke that Manly could pick up quite cheaply and i think he could do no worse than our mate Jason King!!

I am not going to turn this into a king bashing thread because i am enoying his improvements like many of you but i think stapleton could be a pretty wise buy and won't really dint the salary cap!!

If anything he will be a great back up player
