So Jake’s “dangerous” tackle wasn’t worth a mention by the MRC & Olakau’atu’s “high” shot warranted a $3k fine & no suspension.

2 ref & bunker decisions that had major impacts on the game, yet as far as the MRC are concerned it’s pretty much “nothing to see here” 🤔

You're up hill trying to win any game in the modern era when you have three players sin binned , therefore leaving you with a full side for only 50 minutes, the penalties go against you 8 to 5, you have almost 10% less ball, 3 to 1 ruck infringements against, and then cruel yourself with 40 missed tackles. We saw what happened to NSW in the first SOO games when they were down a man for much of the game. I'm not saying whether the sin binnings, penalties ands ruck infringements were justified or not but it always is somewhat suspicious when one side cops such a disproportionate number of sanctions. The chances of victory given such a disproportionate penalty weight is always going to be difficult. Memories of that famed Manly Brisbane match where Toovey was sin binned, then he and Hopoate were sent off for dissent. The side copped a 17-6 penalty caning. Not sure its comparable but referees have an excessive influence on the outcome of a game and the League seriously needs to address the issue. Not as bad as in Rugby Union but refs in soccer are much less influential. Its one of the primary reasons I have been losing interest in the game in the past few decades.

Pretty surprised by those liking the presser.
If ever there was a time to chuck a Ricky, this was it.
Manly got what Manly deserved, yeah we weren’t great, but the Tigers getting 6 penalties in less than 20 minutes, plus the first of three bullshiit sin-bins. Did anyone go back and watch Bullemores sin-bin? ( because Fox never did, also the dropped ball in the second half, nothing to see, move on).
Siebold is too passive for mine. And that was reflected in the players.
And why is Simpkins playing reggies. He should be getting the 14 jersey at the very least.
And Lodge, get him back for some mongrel in the forwards.
And Saab can have a week in reggies too. Bring Ray-Ray back. The Dogs are going to flog us anyway, so might as well dish out some much needed discipline.

Sorry about my little rant there @Eagle 1 . The daughter and I just had our usual post-game debrief. It didn’t go well. Much to soon. Actually we might try and never talk of this game again.
I feel pretty much the same also, all started with Olacalatu losing possession then came the avalanche of possession for the Tigers aided and abetted by Van Gough. Lodge and Simpkins are a must, I'd even go Navale as well. Still a good chance to get 5th with 2 more wins and a crucial home semi. I'm more confident playing sides above us, we get ourselves up for these type of games. Next Friday will tell the tale tho.

We had an opportunity to make a statement last night, and unfortunately we made the wrong one. Instead of solidifying our spot in the finals and showing we could be a threat to the top teams, we reverted to type and showed the NRL exactly what we're made of: not much. Sure, we can score tries in bunches, but we can concede them in even bigger bunches. We have no grit, and no matter how far we are ahead, we can always be reeled in. We've been that way all season (for more than one season, really), so it's hard to believe we'll suddenly change our ways.

I don't care what the statistics say, we are not a good defensive side. The players have no stomach for it. And until we make defence a priority, we will always be also-rans.

This is the best post I have read on this forum. 100% in agreement .

I don’t come on here nearly as much as I used to due to the negativity that is social media these days.
Just like to point out that when Manly had a 16 nil lead, the tigers got 6 yardage penalties, a few 6 agains, and there was a ridiculous sin bin.
Then another, and another. I haven’t heard of too many games where 3 players from one team get binned.
Imo it’s actually a credit to Manly that the tigers didn’t win by 50.
In today’s game, any early lead of 24 or less is a real possibility to be run down.
Another interesting stat is that the tigers were $15.60 or something to beat us and then there’s 3 sin bins. Makes me wonder.
Credit to the tigers. They had energy and turned up to play. They did have some help though.
Hopefully this loss is a wake up call to our players to not take games that we should win, for granted.
Anyway, as always, go Manly!

You must of been watching a different game mate !!
HE BOMBED 2 TRIES IN LAST 5 MINUTES, THAT WOULD HAVE WON THE GAME ??
I think you are the drop kick ..🤣🤣

The look of a Captain who knows his team is being stitched up.

Gordon's stats from the game make interesting reading......

0 runs
0 run metres
0 dummy half runs
0 post contact metres
19 passes
13 tackles
4 missed tackles

Can someone please explain why he is in first grade??
He came on just as the ref put the whistle in his mouth and decided to give the tigs a leg up

Seems too dispiriting to look at any highlights but still has to still be a real positive the way Turbo tried valiantly to keep Manly in the game with some outstanding individual plays .
Not sure with Saab 's 2 nd attempted catch at games end , looked to be well over his head , so a bit of slack there , previous one with Garrick and the reflex pass , not too sure
Team has set some good benchmarks and against quality opposition , just has to somehow find that level of intensity and game awareness starting from next week
Not too sure how to overcome those defensive lapses , surely the fitness level is there .
Maybe just to aim up better from the get go , especially in and around the middle .
Alioai has had a better season to date but not sure how his overall durability is at present .
Maybe a bit too late to try Jake and Tent starting as props and Brown starting at 13 .
Have to have Bully in the mix and Sipley is capable of making an impact , just not sure if it will be practical to introduce him as things are now .
Maybe Simpkin went well enough at Blacktown last week and can similarly this weekend and would be interesting if some combo can be worked with Froggy . Lawton looks like he is needed on an edge again.
Jake and Brown look like they just need a good early rest for the up coming week .
Are they capable of bouncing back nest week , should and can be but guess that much will depend on the team makeup and really knuckling down again .
And sure that most individual performances can improve many percentage points all things normal
Oh and hopefully of course , some proper and decent standard adjudicating including the bunker

Well, @Bearfax , I can cop sin-bins, dud penalty counts and six-agains if both teams are being reffed consistently (yes, I used that word!) and fairly. When it's one-sided like this then there is a bit of a whiff over the whole thing.

Our dummy halves were awful. Koula and Saab had a night to forget. The pack was dominated by he Tigers pack. But the Tigers got a huge leg up. At 16 nil down to receive 6 straight penalties and have the opposition a man short for 30 minutes turned the game on it's head and IMO was not deserved. The Tigers lay all over us and pushed and shoved us in the ruck during the first half and they were not penalized. They constantly walked off the mark taking the marker out and most of the time nothing. We get reamed and poor Bullemore gets sent to the bin for spending less time on the tackled player than the Tigers were. Frankly I did not consider that Big O's tackled warranted 10 minutes his shoulder made clear contact with the chest of the player and there was no contact with the head. The commentators saw it the same way. I felt sorry for the boys. Its a miracle that they only lost by 8. I'm not watching anymore live football there is no pleasure in what I had to endure last night. IMO the contest was destroyed.
Yep. The game / product is poor at the moment. The 6 again rule is the worst thing to happen to the game. I used to watch game after game… losing interest fast

Even now 3 days later this loss hurts so bad more so than any other loss this season

I hope our boys are feeling the same and come out next Friday against the dogs and put in a worthy peformance

With Panthers losing yesterday what a miss opportunity Thursday was specially as well if sharks get beat today.
