BUT... can't believe I'm typing this BUT he tried harder than 3/4 of them today....
I agree. I actually thought that was one of his better performances (in attack) this year. Tried hard and tried a few variations. Created some good opportunities which unfortunately they could not convert to points. The stats tell you the real issue with the team......45 missed tackles and 12 ineffective tackles wont win you ANY games in the NRL. To compound that on the other side of the ledger, 16 errors wont score you many points.

Lack of personal commitment in defence by some of our players has been the main issue for some time now and still is..

Usually I unstick the post game thread but decided the performance was so poor that this thread doesn't deserve to be with our other threads.

Wake up to yourself Manly!

To me, except for the first 60 seconds of the game, Manly looked completely 'rudderless' and I think Brandy (SEN) summed it up this morning when he said he was amazed that with Manly having so many great attacking weapons, they looked completely disjointed. And, they did!

Brandy suggested Brooks "May have well not been out there, as he is best taking on the line and he ran just twice.'

Turbo certainly tried hard, however, he is well below his best and I would be surprised if, on his current form, if he is selected to tour with the Kangaroos, unless Kevvie thinks with other players around him, Turbo will be at his best.

DCE was just 'clunky' with so many uncharactertic mistakes. Maybe it's time to just retire and be remembered as a 'one club player'.

To give Saab his credit, he definitely tried hard and just looked disconsalate with the opportunities he was given. poor kicks, with not enogh depth, poor passes or no passes with the line potentially open.

There were just so many 'Brain snaps' by the players, it beggers belief and they just left so many potential opportunities out there. It was almost like they had not actually played together!

Seibold claimed Manly lost it through the middle and that's probably because he didn't think we controlled the ruck, however, all tries were scored by outside backs, except for Doueihi, so clearly there is a serious defensive structure issue.

If I remember the call accurately, after 60 seconds of the game, the Tigers had 5 missed tackles and almost all on Koula, yet 5 minutes later, Manly had 15 missed tackles, and that's extraordinary!

Dymock is the defensive coach and Hales is the attack coach, as far as I understand. Ennis apparently the halves and 9 coach on a part time basis.

From Round 19 to round 24 we have gone from 4th best defensive side to 6th, while in attack, we have gone from 5th to 12th! We are now averaging 26 against and 5 for over the last 4 rounds!

What’s interesting, is we have beaten every team in the Top 8, except the Bulldogs, and have won well, however, we have lost to every team in the bottom 5, and each time lost badly. How does that happen?

I am DCE harshest critic.and I stand by my record of saying he needs to be booted from the club for many many many years...... take no pleasure in fact now pretty much everyone agrees....he's always been a weird liability mixed with a brilliant genius. Does my head in...

So what's that mean... its

It's all rotten
I agree with you he did tried hard but trying to it all by himself. He looks like a headless chicken before he even go to the chooks. 350gamer been there done that seen it all before everything should be in slow-mo but no he looks like a rookie playing his first game, panicking choosing the wrong play over and over again.

That game was there for the taking, the whole team were shocking specially the 6/7. We blew about 3-4 tries at least, Saab had the line open twice one he choose to come back in second was a passed to Saab's feet and third he choose to passed instead of doing it all himself a meter out from the line. With the obstruction rules going our way that would have been a good win.

Hope it's an empty Brookie nextweek full of Dolphins.

This side has progressively gone backwards each season under the current coach. There are no signs of anything strategically in place to evolve this club. The current standard being trundled out is embarrassing & reminiscent of where the Tigers fell to in recent years. The difference? They are now improving & we have fallen to a level I can't recall. Penn must take action if he has any respect for the club.
I agree with your sentiment but how can a team who came 12th in 2023 & 7th in 2024 be described as going progressively backwards since the current coach started?

He was completely hopeless. Did you see his attempted tackle on Turuva (if you can even call it that)? Did you see the nonchalant hand he chucked out when he was given a bad pass, before he lamely jogged in the direction of the dropped ball as a Tiger threatened to pick it up and run the length of the field? His effort was disgraceful. He's the first player I'd dropped in this whole debacle and that's saying something because we've got Lodge at starting prop!

Not many things infuriate me more in the world of fan forums or even journos,is when people say “they tried hard”,isnt that the bare minimum for a professional athlete?Watch journos cover up DCE’s current form with lines like “he never stopped trying”

I just think our overall standards have slipped beyond both those years. I don't think it has any relevance to their position on the ladder as the performances of the other teams in those years has a major bearing on where each team finishes.
