The plan in the late 1970s was to extend the Latchem Robinson stand around the northern* and southern boundaries, leaving the eastern hill in place. I heard their former secretary Keith Gittoes talking about it on the radio one day.
Then there was an early 1990s scheme to build a big standalone stand at the southern end. Obviously nothing came of that either.
*Given that the trees now at the northern end probably block out most of the panoramic views anyway, this would have been a pretty good outcome. If Manly were losing, you could always console yourself by taking in the lovely water views.
