How much did Manly missed this bloke last night ??
I feel Thompson this season went to another level and in this type of game against a rugged Storm side, damn he was missed....not just his powerful defence on the edges and direct attack, his experience and competitive nature has lifted the entire team.
Early on fans wanted a Ben Kennedy type effect, and in 2019, he went as close to this as any player could be, with his influence absolutely Huge on the younger players and he just makes you believe there is a strong chance of victory when on the field....and this is what he has instilled in his team mates....the replacements tried hard but lack that steely resolve Thommo adds that lifts the side to another level.
Hope he gets to play again in 2019 - a Key player if to compete with the top few teams.

He and Jake are the glue in our team.

They control the ruck and everything runs off the back of their stability.

Of course Thomo as an established player would have covered up our flanks' defensive lapses.

Sadly injuries are now seemingly raining down on Manly 🙁
Without them I genuinely think we would have had a chance this year.
You still have to remember as well we are playing $ 350,000 under all teams for salary cap penalty, to be where we are is a credit to the whole joint.
Like most on here this year now is a lost opportunity.
Storm are not as good as they have been made out to be.
Roosters have them covered.

It ain't over yet.

Manly can still finish 3rd

Without Thommo and Tom I fear our limited chances at success in 2019 have evaporated.

Even if we win in week one ( and to me that’s a very big IF) then we’ll only be cannon fodder in week two.

Don’t like to agree with your summary Mark - but unfortunately I think you have a valid point...

I don’t think Des has given up. I don’t think the team has given up. Hang in there Silvertails. We’ve got go the easiest job of the lot.
Carn Manly!!!!!!!

No ones given up and I’m sure Des and the team haven’t either, just like in 2006 they’ll be brave until the end.

But unlike the Rorters who have virtually a second run on NRL side in reserves we don’t have that luxury.

And unlike the Storm who don’t have a raft of injuries to their stars we also don’t have that going for us either.

Not giving up just being pragmatic!!

My biggest hope is that one of the superteam teams without salary caps (Easts and Melbourne) lose in the first week of the semis so they end up on the same side of the draw and cancel each other out.

If we are on the other side we could jag a sloppy gf spot and with a bit of change of fortune you never know,

These things can realistically happen.

I don't know how much we missed Thommo .... the last 2 games ... his replacement GoJetski only played 2nd row for 10 minutes before having to move to the centres ... and then replaced by a bloke that has been playing for 20 mins as a middle forward all year ....

I would like to see Jack play there for a whole game ......
