This wouldn't have happened under Bozo

Agree the older blokes are just about done DS and that makes these guys all the more important.Apart from seeing them play what worries me about these backup guys is they were basically THE pack who got smashed each week in reggies last year to get the spoon, and Lussick was the star!I just dont believe that if they collectively had all this potential we would run last in a 3rd rate comp

And although not old they have played a fair bit of footy without standing out.Sorry I dont share you enthusiasm and if you compare them to some of the great young forwards around at the moment it is chalk and cheese.Remember they will not have all our stars around them in two years.

The thing that im finding strange is our 2 young "potential" props in Cunningham and Stromquist seem to be on the outer. I know Stromquist is young and can accept that he needs more time but Cunningham looked very good in the trial against the sharks last year and i though would definaly get a game following that yet here we are a long time later injuries galore and he still hasnt got a run. The guy is certainly big enough.

Just guessing here but i would think its a bit of attitude/motivation issue in how he is playing NSW cup (not destroying it) but i think the motivation he needs is a run in first grade. Having been looked over when playing well last year might have just killed his confidence/desire.

Watmough was a star from the day he got out of nappies. He had half a dozen clubs chasing him at the age of 17 and was a start at every level he played.Glen always had the look of a very creative footballer but size kept him back.He grew and he reached his potential.King improved to be a good prop, not a great one.

The blokes we have at the moment show effort but absolutely lack class.None have real size(except Lussick),none hit hard in defence, none have a passing game and none break the line often.Would like them to at least show a few of these traits.

Agree with Fluffy. What has happened to Cunningham and Stromquist.Always been the case that plenty of blokes have oodles of class but no ticker while others have no class but plenty of ticker. You need both to play NRL at a very top level.

That Zorba sure is all powerful isn't he? Maybe there is a God.

Of course Susan you will remember it was around King's 50th game where you bet me $50 he would never play origin?

Agree with that TEE,this year will be fine with all our players on deck.I was talking of next year and beyond.with our senior forwards iether gone or a year older,Harrison and co are not the answer. We need to iether unearth some new talent or lose some older senior players to allow some recruitment.Resigning the 2 stewarts, foran and Rex on huge money, then simply having our current second stringers replacing king, kite, joe, choc etc would not work IMO.

You need to give these young guys a break, they are in a different position than what buhrer was in, he had the benefit of having ten min every game for the whole of 2011. The team was on fire all year and he learned alot without the pressure of the whole team under performing.

Bang on the money - and they are learning without the pressure because the would have been told that there are established first graders missing and that we have had a rough schedule and that they just need to focus on the little things - they will come good and I would rather see Stromquist and Cunningham held back that's always how we have done it - than thrown to the wolves like Groate and Woods for the Tigers.

Our problem and the NRL's is the lack of a decent reserve grade. Plenty of people here calling for junior rep players -all ours making their mark were bashed in the QLD cup before they earned their stripes - hoppa the undeniable exception - Boys (especially forwards) need to be bashed by a few hard heads and that doesn't happen in NSW Cup - it's pretenders styling their facial hair and shaving their legs and making highlight videos of their meagre triumphs to shop around to Sydney based managers.

QLD cup it's enough to go to work all week represent your local area with a couple of returned NRL players and then go fishing or drinking at the Normanby the next day - no-one is diminishing the game they just played that week thinking they should be in the big show.

Worst decision our club ever made leaving the Unshine Coast -you think what the Insular Peninsula has created would be recognised in an insular competition where players don't get the chance to be big-heads before they are anybody.

Just my thoughts...

Kingy played origin and was dumped unceremoniously. He is not an origin class player and benefitted from NSW having picked 20 props in a few years.Justin Poore played origin ffs. He has been great for us and has got the best out of his talents no doubt.I love what he has done for Manly and the way he carries himself in particular but he is limited in terms of talent.

Just out of interest which of our current crop of backup forwards do you tip for higher honours?

Sorry to butt in but I think if we can get Lusik training with a spud Carol or a Ben Kennedy that may give him the lift long term that he is needing..

I agree with you susan that we are lacking good props in the ranks.
