This simply must happen - grow up Lussick

Media reports are Taupau is out with a rib injury this week v Storm.
And that means Lussick will likely start.
So - will Barrett sit him down pre game and say: "the Storm will niggle you all night - this is your test - don't respond and want to fight - because you tried that crap against st george last week and EVERYONE, the club, fans are OVER IT.
Time to grow up Darcy.

I thought Darcy was good last year in that respect, and he had a tough year off the pitch too we must remember.

Saturday was probably a combination of pent up energy being his first game and frustration at the overall team performance that bubbled to the surface. If he starts then he doesn't get that nervous energy accumulating when sitting on the bench - that's a better scenario I feel. I think he'll be fine against the Storm - controlled aggression is what we need.

He controlled his aggression last year, it's part of his game and is a real positive in my book. It can cost a few penalties but the net effect is we get back more than it costs.

I hope he hits every one of them, aggression is what makes him good same with Taupau and AFB.
yeah I agree but see how he runs out to put on a big hit and never ever does? he needs to cut that out and work as a unit. sure if he sees he can put on a big hit do it but against saints he did it every time and it wore him out for defense.

His aggression is his selling point.
But he needs to keep a lid on silly niggly things like the slap.
He's too important to our forwards to be without.

He was also leaving holes in the defensive line that St Merge exploited......

I think Darcy went out there looking to re-establish himself as an enforcer. While I have no problem with him wanting to be that, he should have concentrated more (at least for the first few games) in just re-establishing himself as one of our leaders.

He didn't do either on Saturday.

I think last week was just a matter of Darcy trying too hard. He was edgy as it was his first game back and was probably trying to prove a point to re-establish himself as a starter. This wasn't needed imo as he would earn himself back there once he gets into a groove and back to what he was doing last season.
He just needs to simplify it and do the basics right again.

He played a bad game, sure, *A* bad game. No need to freak out, Lussick is as much a manly player as anyone could be, go get em Lussick. Hopefully he has a side willing to actually have line speed next week so these defensive gaps aren't exposed and so once darcy hits em they can get a round 2 with AFB or Myles (like he did against the roosters) ripping in.

Here is the problem though. That (rushing out of the line looking for a bit hit) is something Darcy has had in his game since he made his debut in 2011. How much game time does he need to get it out of his system? He's in his 7th season of first grade.

Even in the games after his mum's passing last year when he was arguably the best prop in the competition, he still had that "must look for a big hit" mentality and if you look at the stats in those games, he was almost always leading the way with missed tackles, often by a long way.

The hard part is that Darcy Lussick could easily be a mainstay of the NSW and Australian teams if he could only channel his aggression into the right area's.
