This season is where our team has to learn how to be a serious contender!!

The team has taken some positive steps this season and got themselves into a position to win most of our games.

What is so frustrating is their inconsistency and it is why we are at the bottom of the 8 rather than the top 4.

Tonight's result was another glaring example that our team is too soft and fritters away so many games that they control easily.

Lead 14-0 at Parramatta and lost 28-24
Lead 20-0 against Canberra and lost 26-24
Lead 16-0 against Warriors and draw 22-22
Lead 16-4 against the Dolphins and lose 24-30
Lead 16-0 against the Tigers and surrender 26-34

There are similar patterns in each game. A lead is established and then frittered away by shocking indiscipline!! The wastage of these costly defeats has cost us any chance of a top 4 birth.

It is a harsh lesson this season for our team that if we truly want to be a regular top 4 club we need to be more resilient and ruthless!!

Our away form is dreadful, only 3 wins this season away from Brookvale and we have rarely been turned over but lost games due to our own ineptitude!!

Tonight was critical, huge chance to lock up 6th spot and worse and at least get a home final which is now OUT of our hands.

The team has good patches and then these dreadful episodes where we lose the plot badly and it costs us dearly!!

This to me is the challenge, we have quality in our side, we lack the edge to go to the top 4. We need consistency and performances like tonight need to be one off ones rather than the consistent stuff we saw so far this season!!

Penn and co don't care about the club and will say it's a pass mark just making the finals this year even if we get belted week 1 of the finals

I see us now finishing 8th playing dogs week 1 of the finals

We use to have making PF finals and finishing top 4 as pass marks for the seasons we are so far off those standards

He doesnt have a problem giving it to his players if they would have dished up that rubbish from last night and he instills the toughness in the players. Look at how good Tuipiloto is going over there and how many hard runs he takes a game, he never did that for us. Anyway thats my opinion

This is the thing that frustrates me.

In years past we could not beat a top 8 team to save our lives - this year we seem to switch off in the "easy" games enough that we get done.

Also re the Dragons game did you hear the Manly players who went there for Foz's 300th talk about the curse getting him as well?
